Knoxville Raceway

24 305s

Results

Heat one (started): 1. Ryan Voss 3D (2) 2. Chad Huston 7H (3) 3. Matt Stephenson 55 (6) 4. Marty Stephenson 36 (4) 5. Trish Dover 9T (7) 6. Bob Lamb 47 (8) 7. Nate Van Haaften 63 (5) 8. Steve Breazeale 66 (1)

Voss used the high side to lead flag to flag in the 6 lapper. Passing points were used to determine the lineup for the A main. Breazeale, who won in April was obviously off the pace and dropped quickly. Huston and Matt Stephenson had a nice battle for second, with Huston prevailing. Dover came on late, but fell just short of fourth.

Heat two (started): 1. Rager Phillips 7 (7) 2. Bob Hildreth 55KC (6) 3. Bruce Anderson 11A (3) 4. Rob Kubli 23K (5) 5. Mike Mayberry 0 (2) 6. Shadrach Sporaa 11s (8) 7. Brian Carter 6 (1) 8. John Kearney 86 (4)

Mayberry was late to staging and sent to the rear on the start. Hildreth gained the early lead when Kearney pulled off in front of him. On lap three, Phillips had made his way from the rear to take the point, cruising to victory. Carter, an employee with the World of Outlaws, was in his fifth race ever, and first on a big half.

Heat three (started): 1. Steve Yarns 98 (2) 2. Matthew Stelzer 99 (3) 3. J Kinder 88 (8) 4. Zach Clark 9 (7) 5. Josh Padellford 34 (6) 6. Randy Reinhard 10B (4) 7. Michael Brown 82 (5) 8. Garrett Alexander 2GK (1)

Alexander elected to start in the rear. Yarns led through lap four when Brown came to a stop and exited. Yarns led Stelzer, Clark and Kinder back to green flag racing. On the fifth go-around Stelzer took the lead from Yarns on the high side. A side by side battle ensued, with Yarns regaining the point on the last lap. Kinder had a nice run for the tail to third.

A main (started): 1. Phillips (6) 2. Huston (1) 3. Kinder (2) 4. Marty Stephenson (12) 5. Voss (4) 6. Matt Stephenson (7) 7. Dover (13) 8. Hildreth (5) 9. Mayberry (16) 10. Stelzer (8) 11. Lamb (15) 12. Anderson (10) 13. Breazeale (22) 14. Van Haaften (19) 15. Yarns (3) 16. Clark (9) 17. Carter (20) 18. Sporaa (17) 19. Reinhard (18) 20. Kearney (23) 21. Kubli (11) 22. Padellford (14) 23. Brown (21) DNS - Alexander

Kubli spun in turn one on the first try at green. Padellford slowed to avoid him, but caught his left front on teh wall and flipped twice. He caught Kubli on the way by, and he went upside down as well. Both were uninjured. Huston took the early lead in the 12 lapper, over Kinder. 410 regular Phillips, as high point man, started sixth in the invert. By lap eight he was running the cushion on the dry-slick surface, while most opted to run low. He circled Huston on that lap and never looked back for his first Knoxville win. Kinder grabbed third from a surging Marty Stephenson on the last lap. Breazeale was the hard-charger, moving forward nine spots.
