There has been a change in the Calistoga Cup entries. Early in the week it was reported to us that Brett Miller would be driving Mason Moore's #22 at Calistoga. As of Tuesday that has apparently changed, Mason Moore will be in his own car at Calistoga.
At this time Brett Miller will no longer be an entry unless they land a 360 motor.

Oh no problem mom, we got it fixed ! Back to old school for awhile, top five in points in the previews, top five finishers in results reports of any team changes will have a source from the team attached to the statement since those who make statements don't want to cop to it after the fact. And rookie of the year talk...not happening until the end of the season like we use to. Like I said on the phone, whenever you do something extra someone else is upset, I can't make everyone happy and am tired of fallout, so this is the best way to fix it for awhile.
I do recommend that teams put our their own PR statements with their plans though, I personally feel there are many drivers out of the "top five" that deserve recogition weekly for their efforts but in order to control the negative responses from others, etc we kind of need to do this again, back to the book so to speak, right ?

You know, buttercup and some others had some good conversation about this subject at Calistoga and I have come to a conclusion on all of this and that is that I will continue to do our pre-race press just as we always have. We have establshed a good repore with area newspapers for coverage by finding many interesting story lines in the recent past and a quick lesson in getting press, if the editor of the paper finds it interesting then it likely gets on the page, if it gets on the page it is good for the sport and thats what this all about.
This past week yes I got some hate mail for highlighting one driver and not another, or one driver gets one paragraph and the other is upset because he only got two sentences and then they ask to have it changed, etc. So here it goes...at the request of several drivers that I have talked with and my co-workers we are going to continue doing what we are doing. If your team feels they need more press, do what the others are doing and find a personal PR person to do that as well..it is all good for the sport.
Pointing blame and getting all worked up for changing your mind or giving out wrong information or whatever happens? Not good for the sport, it makes everyone look like amatures so in an effort to control that, any driver changes, etc will need to come directly from the team involved and a source will be named in any of those press releases, then if its wrong those who are upset can direct their calls or emails to that person.
Big thanks to Randy and the others Saturday night for talking about this in a really professional, supportive fashion. As most of you know by now people like Troy, Gary and myself are usually willing to here you out if you approach us like that. Likewise if you want to do it in a hostile fashion we have every right to simply walk away.
Thanks to everyone and I personally look forward to continuing what we have been doing as time allows.
