just curious David/Chris - if both classes had about the same number of cars - why did the big mods run a good size C Feature - but the Sport Mods all ran in 1 big B?
Also, what is the advantage of running a C Feature versus running a couple of smaller B Mains? I can think of one potential reason - in that it is one more large, quality race for fans - but I wander if there is another advantage to it?

In the modified division, that has always been the case with them, even when they had 50 plus cars per event. D, C, B and A's. They would lock in the top ten out of the heats (your usual passing point deal), then balance to those D, C, and B's with the top ten out of the B's too the A.
On our sport mods it is just something we had done when that division first started four years ago. The powers to be were all for that format so is what we have stuck with.
Good question by the way, very good.

Thanks David.
I tip my cap to the race teams for being in support of that format. I think at most places teams would bitch to no end for a variety of reasons. It is very cool that the teams and the series' are in full support of putting the best show together that they can.
At least, that's what it says to me. Any of us could understand the complaints some would have in that it is that much more fuel, laps on tires/motor, not to mention that with such a big field it is much more difficult to make a run from the tail. And this is why I dig it - they are there to race, and they all aim to do just that and put on a show - big heats, even big B mains before the main event.
Good for NCRA and the racers that run with them.
Seeing fields get sliced up into as many races as possible to elongate a show gets tiresome - especially when they do that and then the show runs til 2am (we've all been there lol). But, again, kudos for running what is easily the best format for fans.
