The United Rebel Sprint Series is ready for its seventh season for 2012, and Jeff Radcliffe couldn't be happier.

The Hill City driver won the season finale a year ago at Dodge City Raceway Park, his first feature win of his career.

Then he had to wait the offseason to get back into the URSS season — and a chance at another feature win.

“They always say the first one is the hardest to get,” Radcliffe said. “After the first night at Dodge City last year, I wasn't sure if we'd ever get one.”

Now, Radcliffe and the Rebels start the season with the inaugural Beaver Cow Chip Spring Nationals, a two-day show scheduled for April 13 and 14 at Beaver County Raceway in Beaver, Okla.

“This opening show at Beaver is a good one,” said series founder Rick Salem. “I like the name of it. It will be a good show; it really will. There's a lot of Kansas,Colorado, Oklahoma and Nebraska cars coming up for it. It will be good to get out early and see everyone.”

Beaver hosted three races last year, and each race ended with three different winners. Luke Cranston won the first race, while Jason Martin won the second. Josh Fairback was the final winner at the dirt oval.

“It’s a fun race track,” Salem said. “There's a lot of bank on it, and you can get a lot of speed. It's a good track to start things out on.”

Radcliffe is hoping his next URSS race ends like his last one — with a victory. But he knows he'll have to be on top of his game to take home the elevated payout at Beaver.

“Last year down there, the first night out we made the feature,” he said. “Then we missed the set-up and went backwards fast.”

Many of the regular URSS drivers are expected to compete, which will make for an entertaining race for fans attending.

“There's so many good drivers in the series,” Radcliffe said. “There's 10 to 15 guys eligible to win each night. There's a lot of good drivers and it makes for some great racing.”
