I am planning on going to the Brad Doty Classic, The Knight Before the Kings Royal, and The Kings Royal this year. This will be my first year going so I am wondering where the best places to sit are? I am also wondering what there is to do for entertainment near the track during the day, at Eldora?

About anywhere you sit is a good vantage point. At any other show I usually sit about the middle of the main grandstand behind the flagman but at the KR I usually take chairs and sit on the banking. It is not as good a view but you are not crammed together with some drunk of which there are plenty. I wouldnt recommend sitting up high under the awning either, in mid july with the huge crowd that is there it gets very hot.
Eldora is located amongst corn/bean fields so there is not much in the way of local attractions but there should be plenty of "goings on" on the grounds.
Enjoy your trip, out of the roughly 160 tracks Ive been too Eldora is my favorite. Some people will complain about the dust but I dont care, give me a old dry slick Eldora any day

i found that up on the grass going into one (lawn chair) worked really well for me. as far as entertainment during the day....listening to the pig farm across the street.
kudos for smoke, mixed drinks were real cheap, the food also...!
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..
Life is good...

I usually sit in the grandstands on main staightaway. If it gets dusty you may want to sit in middle or towards turn one. I agree that you probalby don't want to be up high if its 90+ degrees. I usually sit down a little lower to get some air. Plenty of seats available on Friday, but there are only a few down low on Saturday. Best thing to do is just people watch. Now that Tony has built a go cart track (Little "E" thre may be some additional racing going on there during the day time.

I've only attended one event at Eldora -- a World of Outlaws show back in the late 90s. Based on my "sample of one" I'd highly recommend that you take some form of goggles to protect your eyes as the night I was there the dust was BRUTAL and I understand that's still a trademark of the track!

Section G,H, or I row 13 - 16 seats on the end of the aisle.... Been going since early 70s and seats in this area are not up under the grandstand in the heat and the dust usually is tolerable unless there is an east wind which is unlikely...Seats are tight so end of the aisle is better...

I've never been to a wing show, only the Mopar Million, but if you sit in the corners you only see 2/3 of the race. The track slopes down from the fence so steep the cars disappear below you. My suggestion is any where in the frontstretch stands.

either coming out of 4 or going into 1 3/4 way up main grandstands. Going into 1 is closer to the bathrooms.

Turn 4 terrace as close to the grandstand as you can get although those spots were sold long ago.....
Oh yeah, they usually have a band Thursday night inside the gates of Eldora near the bar.

KCR14 Thank you for coming to our race the Ohio Logistics BD Classic presented by Racing Optics on July 11th! Sounds like your first time...hope it's not your last!
As far as what to do during the day, you can find most of the teams and drivers working on their race cars at several motels in the area.
St Henry Night Club in St. Henry, Ohio is a good place for breakfast, lunch, and an after the race dinner...or if rained out or delayed, a big party!
Hope you enjoy your trip!

LMAO. Should have said I've only been to a non-wing show at Eldora. Been going to races since the mid 70's. Our trip to Eldora was great but our seats in turn 1 were so bad we took lawn chairs to the hill on the back stretch. It looks like advertising boards would now block that view. Fun place and good time but I'd like to be in the main stands when we go back again.

Brad is spot on as the Aussies would say. The food at the St. Henry may be the best you eat all week, the pizza is as good as any I ever had, coast to coast. Friendly locals, mostly racefans and the strangers are ALL racefans from all over the country, you'll be surprised and most have been there before, it's a pilgrimage of sorts....

Best seats = Home on the sofa.....
Actually upwind on most any given day, winds usually blowing north & east there, so figure on 1 & 2 being good most times. Otherwise one of the suites, if you can afford the bills and food (no carry-ins) Foods is good, although not quite as good from Earl's days. The bars in the area will feed you and entertain you.
Don't forget to be there early, when the gates open, spend some time in the pits, maybe watch time trails and heats, then go upstairs for the mains. The back stretch pit bleachers seats suck, as the bill boards block the view of turn 2 and part of the back stretch. Keep an eye on the turn2 to back stretch area, that D shaped track and back wall catches a few of guard.

I was reading about one of the HOF inductees for 2012, can't remember which one, but in his story he talked about how they mixed oil with the dirt/clay at the old Ascot track in Southern California, to keep the dust under control. Don't know if it worked but I'm sure the heavy hands of the EPA which are helping to destroy this country would not allow something like that today if it did work.
Lawlessness and liberalism equals Hell. NY City,
Detroit, Seattle, Chicago, Minnepolis, etc. We saw it.
Burning hundreds of buildings, a thousand assaults and
dozens of murders. Getting worser and worser.
