Embarrassing..... I've been going to races for over 30 years... and I have seen my fair share of bad tracks and poor races. That BS they passed off as a WoO race was .... I am at a loss of words... I am so pissed that I am thinking about not attending Gold Cup for the 1st time since '84.
When I can I am changing my hoseheads name.

slick or fast, must have been the wrong guy who won, maybe not a leftcoast guy.
Lawlessness and liberalism equals Hell. NY City,
Detroit, Seattle, Chicago, Minnepolis, etc. We saw it.
Burning hundreds of buildings, a thousand assaults and
dozens of murders. Getting worser and worser.

Madsen, how can you find humor in something so pathetic as Friday nights feasko they tried to pass of as a race? Regardless of who won, if you liked that "race", it well might have been the first for you. I'm still pissed off about it. It is very bad when one of the top drivers feels it necessary to apoligize to the fans for such a pathetic race.
Just saying

WOW I've been attending dirt track races since 1967 Super modified days at U stadium and Capital speedway before it was West Capital Raceway, I was also in Las Vegas when they called the show beacuse someone left the underground water supply on overnight forcing to cancel 1st night, 2nd night all they did was tear up equipment just ask Joey Saldana. I agree They missed the track on friday night but really it's not the first time nor will it be the last it's called dirt track Racing, every weekly promotor had one wish it would be a perfect track every race.. DA. To all the cry babies I hear Anderson and Roseville have asphalt tracks you should fit in pretty good their then you can complain about the stale hot dogs. Honestly over the years Padigen earned promotor of the year for this reason" Racing Surface" with the changes the last couple of years Were lucky to still have Chico to Race.

At $4.25+ per gallon and the price of tickets hotel etc you dont get a pass for being a former promoter of the year. Great logic tho! Live in the past.

You act like this is the first time you have seen a bad sprint car race. It happens. They prepped for rain during the day that was supposed to come but didnt. It happens its a chance thing. So quit bitchin about it and move on. There will be many more great races at Silver Dollar. John Padjen is a great promoter. Everyone at that track knows what they are doing they had a lot of obstacles to overcome this past week. If you think every dirt race you go to will go how you want it, than you are sadly mistaken.

Most people that race at SDS wonder how padjen ever got promoter of the year. Tell me when was the last time he """"PROMOTED"""""" anything. There is no PROMOTION at SDS only collection. Make the back gate pay the purse and the profit and whatever you can scrape up from the front gate can be pocket change. Anyone that lives in Chico knows that the PROMOTION done for the 4 stupid ass monster trucks far exceeds what is done for anyrace night including the gold cup. SDS does not car about its racers or fans they just care about taking in the money till the well goes dry.

I will first say that I'm glad I stayed an extra week and went Devils Bowl...hell of a show and track is badass....
I love Chico always have, always will. been going there since 85. I have seen alot of awsesome shows there, as well as bad ones...funny how the bad ones stick out, huh? there has been a change at the Silver Dollar for the last 5 or 6 years, with the last 2 beuing promoted by Dennis Gage. Although there have been some changes that have been good, there have also been bad ones as well..I have went to nearly all the races last year there and for the most part is was a good year...not the best...but good. One thing is for sure, and it has been steadily happening across the Country, if we don't support our local track...we won't have one for long. With that said..I ordered friday nights race and watched it courtesy of dirtvision, and yes the track was horrible and the racing not good either, and I paid only 15 bucks to watch at home, I might be more upset had I'd of driven there and sat through it.
I am concered about the Dollar...What can we do....cause I can't imagine not having Chico to go to..can you?
The older I get, the faster I used to be.

If you cancel the race around 3pm on the threat of rain why the hell
did you not cancel it the night before so I do not pay an extra hotel night. The forecast was the same from
Friday on. It is a long tow from WA and to be canceled for supposed rain
that never shows up.
My guess is the pre-sale was not enough to turn a profit and they
knew no walk-ups would happen so they pulled the plug. That is the only
logic I can see. All the teams where there, the fans were there why not
take the chance and race.
As far as the track prep, the forecast was not to rain until after
midnight Friday. The dusty conditions at wheel packing was just
pathetic. I see about 70 races a year and about 10 are nearly as bad as this one, but at least they make an attempt at track prep. To me dusty at hot laps means no attempt. At least they learned as the water truck was making passes around the track on Saturday around 11am.
By the way it stings a little more when the $35 ticket pales in comparison to the two nights in a hotel, the hours spent in the car and the tanks of fuel burnt. I know it is a chance I take, but I expect an effort.

I understand it is not easy to prep dirt tracks well but in this case nothing was done the entire evening to ry and improve the racing surface. I would gladly have waited in line for another beer while they reworked the track prior to the mains but not one solitary peice of equipment moved! Not even push trucks driving around the top!!!

Besides that, with some time set aside for track prep work, they could have sold more hot dogs.

you know, i love the city of chico, even considering moving there. sds has always been one of my favorite tracks but after the main last year at the gold cup and the fiasco this year...who knows....
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..
Life is good...

"I understand it is not easy to prep dirt tracks well"
I can't agree with that statement at all. Especially when the track has been there for 50 years. How can you not know what to do for any kind of weather ? If an engine builder, chassis builder, or any type of business started making an inferior product they would lose customers and eventually go out of business. The track's number one responsibility is to have a racing surface equal to or surpass the paid admission. For nearly ten years now there has been many complaints about the racing at SDS. The only reason fans come back is they give the track the benefit of doubt that it will get better next time. Honestly think they are running out of next times. In the 80's and 90's SDS used to get their clay from local farms and river beds that were sticky enough to take your shoe off and prepped well. Fix the current problem before its too late !

Remember when they used to have the holes in turn 3 and 4, track was always hooked up. They started using a sheeps foot, worked good at the start of the season but they over used it. the track is so compacted it won't take the water. They also ran the bombers as a support class that had narrow tires and they would knock the crust off. Just a thought, but I know it hasn't been the same since the sheeps foot.

WRG only sets the WoO sanction fee - the tracks set the ticket prices.
