Does anyone know of or have a picture of a Nance downtube sprint car built before 1990? Not a midrail but a downtube. Thank you.

I never ever knew of a downtube Nance sprinter during that time. Nance held out as long as he could. I saw some add on deals in the 100" cars, but never a true Nance design.

The chassis in question is a 1987 sprint car that was clipped and became a downtube. Obviously not a true downtube. The welds indicate it was professionally done perhaps even at the Nance shop. The letter A was added to the serial number on the frame.

Only downtubes I seen Nance do was in the early 90's when we were up at his house and he was still building a few cars then, Danny Wood was driving them , never seen a downtube car by Nance before then, if it was in 87 ,somebody else probably repaired it and added the downtubes to it , think Nance just worked his way up , was in the mid rail cars in the late 80's 86" and 100" and true down tubes did not come till the 90's on his Sprint Cars.Kind of like Brian said held out on doing them.

Thank you both very much for your responses. I also have a 1991 true downtube Nance and a 1989 Nance midrail. My main focus was to see if anyone out there either was part of creating the revamped 1987 or possibly remembers it in competition as it was raced after the modification. Thanks again.

trecraft, You sure might hang on to that 91 Downtube Nance, was not that many of them made back then, I believe the kid that was building them at the time when we were up ther for a Race Car Auction in Wichita,Ks. in January of the early 90's said there were only about 12 or so in existence then, I know Danny Wood car owner at the time had 2 of them, he did not build the chassis very long I do not beleive??.
