I was of the understanding that the hottest driver to come from the Washington area was a guy named Will Champagne. He posts here now and again with thoroughly knowledgable posts about racing and winning in sprint cars cause he races a go kart giving him first hand experience.
Cheers!

Will Champagne the first is pretty impressive in the west coast kage kart ranks but he is a distant second in driver skill to tyler anderson 24.
Check him out on his youtube channel and watch his skills come alive on screen.

If i were his sponsors i would be helping him out as much as possible to get him to the next level. His attitude towards officals and other drivers really gets his FAN pumped up and want to support their businesses. Should be a good show at chili bowl and knoxville if he is in the house.

I think he is starting to get it figured out faster every time I see him. Hopefully he can get back to skagit and show the locals what it means to go run at other tracks.

I agree nick... His dad is gonna ruin him, cause he is a hot head. He's been kicked out of Skagit more than once cause of his cheerful personality! He aint gonna make it on the road. He is gonna hit the ground hard and fast, but good luck.

Shouldn't a season highlight reel show him passing at least one car?

Forgive me if I'm overly cautious about the next new open wheel star but I've gotten burned on a couple of my predictions. They weren't message board posts that are soon forgotten but Flat Out articles that people will remind me of for years to come. After showing a ton of promise, landing a ride in the Forbrook #5 and winning a Feature at Knoxville Dustin Lindquist decided that friends, family, fishing and hunting were more important than racing. Andy Jones won some Features and looked to be making a lot of progress in Sprints. Last season didn't go as planned. Andy suffered the loss of one of his crewmen and his grandfather, both influential in his racing career, and the team already in a funk had some run in's with officials and pulled the plug in September. They parked the Sprint Car and he'll be back in a Modified next season.
My point is that you just never know how things are going to go for these up and coming drivers. In all the years I've been making predictions I think the only one my son and I can boast about is our prediction that the kid in the black #15 WISSOTA 360 we used to watch back in the mid 90's was going to go somewhere. We were right on our predictions about Donny Schatz but aside from that we have gotten more than our share of egg on our faces. There are a lot of variables so you never know.

I wish nothing but success for the driver this thread was created (whom I've never heard of, which means nothing at all) but I found the original post humorous and the post about The Chili Bowl & Knoxville being a good show because of him one of the funniest things I've read in here in a long time. Really? LOL Forget the 200 other cars at the Chili Bowl... it's because of HIM? Knoxville because of HIM? WOW... do we ever exemplify the textbook definition of hyperbole!
STAN: good post. You really got me thinking. I doubt I can even think of half the people that looked like the next big thing for the Texas area at least that sputtered. Chris McDermott for sure comes to mind. OK's Trey Robb... what happened to him? Who knows how many talented people end up either losing sponsors/daddy money, lose interest, get hurt, get sick, etc.

And if they're one of the great ones that only come along once in a lifetime they get noticed by NASCAR and they're gone before most of the Sprint fans ever get a chance to see them.

I dj at a bar in the Ft. Worth Stockyards & have met a lot of local & regional musicians. The constant "looking for their big break" sure does sound an awful lot like local & regional racers hoping to move up to the national stage.
I think musicians & racers have an awful lot in common... it takes a special mix of talent, personality & performance to truly "get noticed." There are a handful of regional musicians around here I think would be top 40 stalwarts given the chance... way better than the crap we all hear on top 40 stations nowadays. How many racers have we thought would be competitive on the Outlaw tour given the chance? Same deal.
I just hope that when musicians & racers get their opportunity to shine that they actually SHINE, you might not get another chance. The constant 2nd guessing of "why in the world did they get the ride/record deal?" will never end.

Hey Stan, just checked your website, loved those pictures of old super mods & coupes. Thats what got me started, back in the 60s at Eastside Speedway, Waynesboro, Va.
Damn I wish I had a time machine!

The "Ft. Worth Stockyards" is where I'd go looking for my big break in music, after all, there way to much competition in Austin.
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

Some guy: good point about musicians. Lots of talent in this country that never "got the big break". Same for athletes. I can think of lots of HS basketball players that I thought were goin somewhere., but didn't

Thanks. I started out watching those cars too so I'm kind of partial to them.
