Friday looks ok but Saturday looks like more rain. I hope this is not one of those rain every weekend deals this spring. This is when California's off season should start. The season should go from the end of May until the end of Febuary.JMO

I'm willing to bet the change in my pocket that this question will not be answered by anyone in any kind of "official" capacity.

Allard likes Mini Gold Cup chances at Silver Dollar — weather permitting
By DAVE DAVIES-Sports Editor Posted: 03/23/2012 12:39:00 AM PDT
CHICO — One of the biggest topics of conversation Thursday surrounding the 26th annual Mini Gold Cup tonight and Saturday night at Silver Dollar Speedway involved the weather.
The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series has hit town for two nights of 410 winged sprint car racing along with the United States Auto Club Midgets, though Outlaws sprint series director Carlton Reimers and Silver Dollar track promoter Dennis Gage both aren't sure what to expect regarding possible rain.
"That's kind of up to Mother Nature, and I learned a long time ago you can't fight her too hard because she's going to do what she wants to do," Reimers said. "(Today)'s looking pretty good. Saturday, we just have to kind of wait and see what happens. The weather forecast is not real good, but I guarantee you, we're here. We've come a long way to be here, and we're going to try everything we can to get the show in."
Gage has tried to stay positive as the weather forecast has changed throughout the week, and still hopes to have two nights of racing.
"We still have Sunday as a potential rain date, however, if we get a lot of water on Saturday, it'll be hard to do that," Gage said. "I'm positive that we'll get one show in and we're definitely going to try and get that show in (today), and then we'll go from there."
If the second night does get canceled, Gage said they'll make sure that people somehow get their money's worth. "They've got to have an option if we have a rainout of using their tickets at Calistoga or Merced in California, or we'll give them some credit toward our Gold Cup (in September)," he said. "The people will be taken care of. Some people have traveled a long way. There are a lot of people flying in. I think we have some people from Australia. It's a long haul for some of these folks, they have a big investment, so we're going to try to entertain them."
Reserved seating tickets for tonight cost $35 and non-reserved, lower-level and bleacher seating tickets are $30. For Saturday, advanced reserved seating tickets cost $45 and non-reserved tickets are $39. Tickets can be ordered online by visiting www.WorldofOutlaws.com/tickets or by calling 1-877-395-8606.
The pit gate opens at 2 p.m. and the front gates open at 5 p.m. with qualifying beginning around 6:40 both nights. Camping on the fairgrounds is also available.
One competitor who definitely knows the ins and outs of racing on Silver Dollar's quarter-mile oval is veteran Outlaws driver Sammy Swindell from Germantown, Tenn. Swindell won twice here in 1981, once in 1996 and again in 2010 at September's Gold Cup Race of Champions. Swindell also had two quarter-mile wins on the series last season.
"They've always had a good field of cars here, a real competitive series out here. Some of the places, there might be one or two or three guys that might have a chance of winning who are local, you come here there might be 15," Swindell said. "You throw that in with everything else and it just makes everything really, really close. Even on the qualifying, inside of a tenth (of a second), you could be 30 positions off. It can bury you back and it just makes your night real tough."
Swindell added, "You have to work real hard and just really hustle the car here. Some of the bigger places you have to be more smooth or more precise on where you're at, this (track) you can maybe be a little more out of control. If you just run hard and the car responds, and it'll change directions, those are all plusses here. There are just things we don't see at a lot of race tracks. This place is pretty hooked-up here a lot of the time, and it might be a little bumpy, so there are a lot of things that get thrown in there that we don't see during the season. This place is one of the toughest places to be competitive every time we come here, because it's a bit different. It's more of a challenge here because of the amount of cars and the caliber of cars, and all the conditions. All that rolled together, it's tough to get a win here."
Swindell is currently second in the Outlaws series standings, five points behind leader Donny Schatz after six races. San Jose driver and former Silver Dollar track champion Tim Kaeding has two wins in the series, in Las Vegas on March 8 and last Friday, March 16, in Tulare.
Another former track champion among the challengers this weekend is Chico driver Jonathan Allard, who won 11 out of 14 races he entered in New Zealand this winter, which he said helped him "stay race-fit." 'I think being home gives me an advantage," Allard said.
"I think that being around the family and friends and all the supporters that have helped me get to this point in my career has been a big deal."

My bad, I was told they will be in Chico, but I should of asked if they were racing or helping other drivers throughout the night.

If you are in Chico and looking during the day for where the rigs are several of them showed up overnight at the place I generally expect them to. Next to the Best Western on Cohasset in the Kmart parking lot I saw the TSR, KKR, and Sides Motorsports rigs. There should be more but it was dark and those were the ones I saw. Last year at Gold Cup the Big Game team rigs were there too.
