Just got back from Vegas. I don't understand why Nascar fans have to stand during the race. Thanks to the anouncer for asking them to sit. I can understand that a person might have to stand during a Nascar race to keep from falling asleep. During the sprint car races there is enough action that you will stay awake. Please stay seated so the rest of us can see also.

People standing has probably caused more fights (in the stands) than anything else.

Me and my friends even yell at the people standing right in front of us like there is no one behind them to tell them to sit down cause its not a NASCAR race.

Those Napcar fans are standing because they have never seen anything that fast between corners except a jet dryer and it was on fire."Gosh Jeb them thangs shore are fast, yeah I can't even read anything on that umbrella over the seat" true statement from Bulls Gap WoO race a couple years ago.

In the 1970s at Hartford Speedway in SD, all they ran was Late Models and Sprints. After the heats there would be a 20 minute intermission.

Then came the Late Model feature. The INSTANT the green dropped, 50 buttholes would get up and VERY slowly walk to the beer stand.

NASCAR fans are stupid. A few of the Sprint Car fans of the 70s were snobs.

It happens at Williams Grove too when Kasey or Smoke are there for the foundation race. Pisses me off to no end.

One year in the heyday of the real deal, the Copper World Classic at PIR, there was a group in the box seats down below the EE section that thought they were at a Winston Cup race. Early on in the day people had been giving them some slack.... Now they hadn't been to bad eairly on, but at the start of the first main, and after they had consumed a lot of alcohol, their true colors came out and they all jumped up. The people behind, and even way behind, gave them more than a little grief. They were yelled at and told to sit down, but one of them turned around and flipped everyone off. After he turned back around, and still standing, they were showered with half full beer and pop cups, and a couple of the boy's made sure they knew where it came from too. These guy's were now, and to everyone's delight, having a fit, and acting like they wanted to fight. That brought on more cups of ice, beer, pop and cheers from the crowd.. When security came it was clear that something had to be done, and it was. They were escorted out.

The moral of this story is, you don't mess with the boy's at the gathering of the clan.

Everyone had put up with those drunks all day Saturday, and there was just no way they were going stand up in front of everyone for the 4 mains that were being run on Sunday without there being some trouble, especially with their attitude. They got exactly what they deserved.

I'll be at Canyon for the ASCS non wing series opener Saturday; top row as always. See ya at the track.

I know why they stand, because they are not used to that much excitement in the race itself!! wink

You one funny guy "NASCAR and excited" in the same post I almost pissed my pants I was laughing so hard. Why do you think you have the right to tell anyone to "just stay home"?

You folks are looking at this the wrong way. To start with, everyone stands at NASCAR races for the green flag. After a few laps everyone generally sits back down. That generally is anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes. That's a comparable amount of time to an sprint car heat, maybe even longer than that. In most sprint features, it's probably comparable to the length of time until you have the first yellow flag. They're not doing it to be rude, it's just that most sprint car races are over by the time they can think about sitting down!

All joking aside though, at least these people are spending some money supporting sprint car races. Some of them may show up because of Smoke or Kasey, but I'm sure quite a few of them become permanent fans. Unless they are not cooperative, we really should be grateful that they are there.

I heard, but I'm not inclined to sit inside for a sprint car race. Plus it would make my dad roll over in his grave if I did.

PS... Bruce, I'm sure glad you don't talk like you spell.
