It would have been great to see Foyt running sprints and several others of that era. Wish I could have seen Opp in his prime. I remember him at Nationals when I was pretty young but it must have been nearly his last year driving. Earl Wagner is the guy I'd most like to have seen race. Got to see him in the Masters Classic the first 2 years they had it and he was very fast and about a foot off the wall and hammer down!

Lenard McCarl. I never saw him race but I hear he was one tough SOB
More weight, more regulation, more similarity in the
cars.... that will ensure plenty of thrills for years
to come. Only the most average talent behind the
wheel will be needed with such awesome equipment on
the track!

I was at Master Jack's at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in the early 70's and witnessed Opperman and Eddie Leavitt "discussing" the race they just ran. I dont remember the race, just the post race talk.
Foyt, Jud Larson, Mario, Johnny Rutherford, the Unsers, man I wish I could have seen those guys on dirt.
