2nd Annual $120,000 LoneStar Sprint Nationals Event Flyer, Details Released

Kilgore TX (2/23/12) by DarinShort.com. A whopping $120,000 cash purse has been posted for the 2nd Annual LoneStar Sprint Nationals (LSN) this coming October 11-13, 2012 and today the event flyer has been released.

Please click www.darinshort.com/SCN.html to view the flyer details.

Every major LSN event sponsor from 2011 has renewed their commitment for the 2012 LSN. The LSN is Sponsored in part by Smiley's Racing Products, The Oil Medics, KJC Auto Title Loans, Eagle Motorsports, Palm Harbor Homes, Kear's Speed Shop , Outlaw Wings and ABC Auto Parts. Several associate sponsors are in the works and will be announced when they become available. Please email Darin at [email protected] for event sponsorship inquiries.

The LSN is a three-day, Sprint Car-only show featuring two divisions: Winged Sprint Cars and Winged RaceSaver® Sprint Cars, and is held at LoneStar Speedway in Kilgore, TX. LoneStar Speedway is a brightly lit, fast, high-banked 3/8 mile clay oval. Over 130 sprint teams entered the 2011 event with more than 100 racing each night.

Qualifying night (Thursday/Friday) 30-lap A-features pay $2,000 to win and $200 to start for the Sprint Car division; and $500 to win and $100 to start for the RaceSaver® Sprint Cars. No time trials.

Saturday night’s Sprint Car division 40-lap 25-car feature pays $13,000 to win and $1,200 to start; and $2,200 to win and $400 to start the RaceSaver® Sprint Car 30-lap 25-car championship race.

As impressive as the purse for this event is, race fans can purchase a 3-day adult grandstand pass for 1980’s pricing of only $40 upon their arrival at the track on race night. Or, individual night tickets are $15 each for Thursday and Friday, and just $20 on Saturday’s blockbuster event.

The Sprint Car division is for ASCS legal cars, and Sprint Cars will be teched by ASCS. The LSN is an ASCS sanctioned, non-points race for the Sprint Car division. The early entry fee for this class remains at $100 for this race and pit passes are the same as 2011, which are $30 each on Thursday and Friday; and $35 on Saturday. A 3-day pit pass will be available for $90. There is roughly an $11,000 increase in the Sprint Division purse slated for 2012.

RaceSaver® Sprint Cars will be teched by RaceSaver.com rules and officials with one exception. Drivers may choose whether they wish to run the STS or SST stamped right rear tire – as was the case in 2011. The early entry fee for this class is $100 for this race and pit passes are the same as 2011, which are $30 each on Thursday and Friday; and $35 on Saturday. A 3-day pit pass will be available for $90. There is roughly a $9,000 purse increase for the RaceSaver® Sprint division for 2012.

Registration for the LSN will open up on Thursday, March 1st. Each division is limited to the first 80 entries received. By clicking www.darinshort.com/SCNdrivers.html race teams can access the event registration page, which will go live on March 1.

Fans and race teams can also expect a large amount of track vendors, outside food and merchandise vendors, as was the case last year.

Track owner Sam Hafertepe comments: “We’ve been working hard in the off season continuing with project work at the track. It’s all coming along really well and we’re looking forward to a great season. Darin has been working hard on his end too, and I think we’ve developed a really good combination.”

Lisa Hafertepe adds: “The whole LoneStar staff is pumped up for 2012 and every single one of them can’t wait until the return of the LoneStar Sprint Nationals. We all had a blast last year and the massive amount of positive fan emails after the LSN encourages us to work even harder this year to make sure they have another great time.”

Darin Short comments: “Last year we had a lot to prove, and I would like to thank our sponsors for their unwavering support of this event. Without them, it would be very difficult to pull off an event of this magnitude – while still making it one of the most fan-affordable major sprint car events in the U.S.” He adds: “For a race fan to witness three nights of sprint car-only racing for $40 is a great deal. I believe we’ll have even a stronger turnout of fans for this year’s race.”

Bill Wright, AKA “Bill W,” of Monroe Iowa will be returning to provide the call for the Sprint division. He will also conduct the competitors draw-in for both the Sprint and RaceSaver® divisions. Bill W has been on the media side of the sport for over 15 years as a journalist, website editor, broadcaster and announcer. His weekly 'Knoxville News' recap can be found on racing sites worldwide. Bill W is the announcer for the Sprint Invaders, Midwest Open Wheel Association as well as several other events.

RacinBoys.com will also return to provide audio webcast of the event, for those not able to make it to the event. They will also provide post-event video footage.

At last year’s LSN we promised three nights of exciting Sprint Car racing action…and delivered on that promise. If you’d like to check out some of the action from the 2011 LSN, there are several video clips loaded at the event website from Don Cook of the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram and RacinBoys.com.

Complete event details, flyers, purse, rules and much more can be accessed at www.darinshort.com/SCN.html - however the registration page will not open until March 1.

In an effort to maintain unobstructed spectator viewing, open trailer and smaller enclosed trailer teams will be pitted in the infield of the track, as in 2011.

The 2012 RaceSaver Sprint Division at the LoneStar Sprint Nationals will be 100% RaceSaver.com rules, exactly like it was in 2011.

Again, the only exception to the RaceSaver.com rules will be drivers can choose whether they run the STS or SST RR tire...just as advertised on the event flyer and event website this year and last year.

This should put an end to any speculation of anything happening otherwise.

Click www.darinshort.com/SCN.html for complete rules and event flyer. Thanks.

edited 7/9 to include new entries received.

KILGORE, TX (7/6/12) by DarinShort.com. Although the $120,000 LoneStar Sprint Nationals (LSN) at LoneStar Speedway is over three months away, an interesting mix of drivers entered from seven states is already taking shape.

Highlighting the Sprint Division entries include 6-time Knoxville 410CI champion Terry McCarl and 9-time and defending 410CI champion Danny Lasoski.

At last year's LSN Terry McCarl was entered, but a last minute out-of-country business commitment required Terry to fill the seat with replacement driver Daryn Pittman, who drove to the qualifying feature victory in his Eagle Motorsports chassis car on the Friday night portion of the three-day event. Pittman eventually finished 3rd in the LSN finale after starting 4th row in an event that had only one yellow flag fly in its 40-lap distance.

There is also talk of a second McCarl entry in 2012, which would make for an exciting father/son combination.

Another interesting pair of drivers at the LSN is the first brother/sister combination of Justin & Michelle Melton. Justin missed last year's LSN championship feature by only one spot, while up-and-comer Michelle plans to make her own mark on the LoneStar high-banks.

131 total teams entered the 2011 LSN event, which features a two-division 'sprint car only' format. All cars can race all three nights, giving the true sprint car fans exactly what they want: lots of sprint car racing and lots of sprint cars in three straight nights...and all for a 1980's style 3-day grandstand pass of just $40.

$120,000 cash is up for grabs at the 2012 edition, with $13,000 to win and $1,200 to start (24th) the Sprint Car division championship feature. The RaceSaver® Sprint division will be racing for $2,200 to win and $400 to start (24th). From 2011, the Sprint Car division purse is up roughly $11,000; while the RaceSaver Sprint Car division has received a boost of $9,000...and without an increase to fans in ticket prices.

The event is set to hit the high-banked clay oval of LoneStar Speedway October 11-13, with cars rolling onto the track at 7pm nightly (as the sun is setting). Please click http://www.darinshort.com/SCN.html for complete event details, rules, format, online registration, connect with our event host hotels, and much much more. Thursday and Friday nights events include a full night of racing with heats, B's and A's in each sprint car division. Thursday and Friday's qualifying night pay $2,000 to win and $200 to start in the high-powered Sprint Car division; and $500 to win and $100 to start in the wildly popular RaceSaver Sprint division.

Car numbers are awarded on a first-entered basis, so enter soon to get yours.
