USAC VS. ASCS "360 GRUDGE SERIES" BEGINS MARCH 8TH AT LAS VEGAS; $5000 UP FOR GRABS TO MINI-SERIES CHAMPION by Lance Jennings
SANTA MARIA, CA – FEBRUARY 16, 2012... On Thursday, March 8th, the USAC West Coast 360 Sprint Car Series will kickoff their 2012 campaign at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The non-point "Sin City Showdown" is also the first round of the 3-race "Grudge Series" with the ASCS Canyon Region and will showcase both groups with the famed World of Outlaw Sprint Cars. For more information on the Las Vegas "Sin City Showdown," visit www.lvms.com.
The "Grudge Series" will resume at Santa Maria Speedway on July 7th for the "War at the Shore" and conclude at Canyon Speedway Park's non-point "Brawl for in All" on September 22nd. Each race of the mini-series will carry a $2,500-to-win and $300-to-start purse, with a $50 entry fee. Thanks to sponsorship from Southwest Contractors, Hoosier Tire, and ParkerStore of Phoenix, the 3-race mini-series has a point fund of $15,000 with $5000 up for grabs to the champion and $700 for 10th place in points. As this writing goes to press, Promoters Chris Kearns and Kevin Montgomery are looking for more sponsorship to pay at least $500 for 15th in "Grudge Series" points and the current point fund is listed at the end of this release.
"This is a unique opportunity to bring two series together for three special events with substantial payouts and championship fund," says Kearns. "The two series are very close as far as rules and we are looking forward to letting some talented racers from both series get together to put on great events for the fans."
According the ASCS Canyon Promoter Kevin Montgomery, "With the USAC West Coast Sprint Car Series adopting the Hoosier 105/16 Medium right rear tire and the weight rule adjustment for both series to 1475lbs, it will closely match the neighboring Sprint Car Series and mark the first time in history that both traveling series will have a unified set of rules."
Two days after the March 8th "Sin City Showdown" at Las Vegas, Ventura Raceway will host the first round of the All Coast Construction 360 Challenge. The Saturday, March 10th, VRA Sprint Car event also has a $2,500-to-win purse and the Hoosier Medium and VRA Right Rear Tire are legal for both shows. The USAC West Coast 360 rules can be found at visit www.westcoastsprintcars.com. The ASCS Canyon Region rules are online at www.canyonspeedwaypark.com. The VRA Sprint Car and Ventura Raceway rules are online at venturaraceway.com.

This is right before NASCAR weekend, so hotel rooms at a premium.

If tickets in town are totally outrageous try vegas.com or try stateline. I got free rooms @ Primm Valley and the lady told me that she was getting reservations for that weekend but up to Thursday was free. This was last week though. Out of all of the travel sites, vegas.com is the one that I've had the best luck getting inexpensive rooms at.
It's great to see so many AZ and CA cars going. I'm going and a bunch of my Turn 1 gang from Canyon is going too.
Don't forget the night before the USAC/ASCS show, the Late Models & modifieds are running and Carla Laney said their team or part of it is going over. Pricing is $50 for both shows if you purchase your tickets in advance.
Cya there!!!
RIP Chet and Mark. You might be gone but never will
be forgotten.

What is the non-points race scheduled for Sept. 29th @ Santa Maria ?
There used to be a referral desk at Circus Circus,$35 where ever they found you a room.Don't know if they still do this or not.

Pickup from http://thedirttrackchannel.com/USAC.html.....
WEST COAST SPRINT “SIN CITY SHOWDOWN” THURSDAY AT LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY DIRT TRACK.....
Thursday night’s “Sin City Showdown” at Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s Dirt Track will feature stars of USAC’s West Coast Sprint Series and the ASCS “360 Grudge Series.” The two groups will stage three races this season with a $5,000 bonus to driver posting the best performance. The other dates are July 7 at Santa Maria (Calif.) Speedway and September 22 at Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Ariz.....
Defending four-time AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint Car Champion Mike Spencer is expected to be among competitors Thursday, along with USAC/CRA stars Cory Kruseman, Ryan Bernal, Bud Kaeding and Brody Roa.....
Rick Ziehl, USAC’s 2003 Southwest Sprint Car Champ, is also among drivers expected at Las Vegas, as well as Arizona regulars Bruce St. James, R.J. Johnson, Charles Davis Jr., Josh Pelkey, Stevie Sussex, Mike Martin and Jeremy Sherman.....
Greg Taylor, last year’s Ventura Sprint king, and Oklahoma vet Dustin Morgan are also projected participants.....
The Las Vegas dirt oval has hosted several USAC events in recent years. Damion Gardner was the last to win in the USAC Sprints there in 2010. Cole Whitt, Levi Jones, Blake Miller, Darren Hagen, Josh Wise, Tony Jones, Tony Elliott, Jeff Gardner, Monte Faccinto, Ray Evans, Bobby McMahan and Ronnie Day also own USAC Sprint wins at the half-mile.....
Thursday’s race is considered a “special event” and therefore offers no West Coast Sprint points. The 2012 USAC West Coast Sprint campaign officially opens March 17 at the Tulare (Calif.) Thunderbowl Raceway.
