Thanks for sharing. Will tell my age here, but I can remember him at the old Devil's Bowl on John West Rd. in Dallas.......along with others, Johnny Rutherford, Shady McWhorter, Jim and James McElreath....

I was fortunate enough to see both Jerry Blundy and Gordon Wooley at Nostalgia Night at Knoxville a few (probably more like several now) years back.
Even if the announcer hadn't said who was in the cars, their driving position in the cockpit (and Gordon's helmet and the handkerchief over his face) were dead giveaways as to who they were if you had ever seen them race.
Had a great visit with both of them.

This feels like nostalgia night for me. I too had a great visit with both Gordon and Jerry a while back at Knoxville Nostalgia night. I have great pics of both of them if I can find them. Jerry was there helping his son Cliff. Cliff went on to win the open cockpit class that night.

Gordon usually sits in the upper right hand (as you're looking at them) corner of the pit stands at the local track here in central TX. I've gone up and spoken with him and his wife a few times, and every time both of them have made it an honor to do so. Great people.

When in Knoxville-- Gordon and his wife & little dog are the #1 customers of the "Cone Corner". If you see them there-- stop and visit, you'll be glad you did. They are great people!!!

I think it was the '63 Nationals: he was running third when an early race caution came out and Wooley's mechanic ran out and jumped on the side nerfs. He got the hood off and threw it to the infield, made adjustments, and jumped back off in front of the pit entry. I think he finished third.
