Midwest Open Wheel Association Welcomes Sponsors, Sets Tentative Schedule!

(Bill W) January 11, 2011 – With one year under its belt, the newest 410 sprint car series in the Midwest is surging into 2012 with plenty of steam. In addition to returning contingency sponsors, the Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA) is announcing six new partners and a move to Hoosier Tire for this year's campaign. The series has tentatively set up a race schedule consisting of twenty nights of action in Illinois and Iowa! The schedule is a work in progress as officials work behind the scenes to build a series for its fans, racers, promoters and partners!

Contingency sponsors returning in 2012 include DMI, Eagle Chassis, HRP Wings, Maxim Chassis, RaceBumpers, Ratewin.com and Super Shox.

New contingency sponsors this season are Brown & Miller Racing Solutions (BMRS), Butlerbuilt Professional Seat Systems, Hinchman Indy Uniforms and Racewear, Keizer Wheels, RadicalRacegear.com, and Ron Wicks VP Racing Fuel. Stay tuned for more information on all of MOWA's partners!

In 2012, a right rear Hoosier tire rule will be enacted. The rule will cover the right rear only and requires an SC15 or SC25 tire. MOWA would like to welcome Hoosier on board!

The series' tentative schedule opens up on Friday, April 20 in Lincoln, Illinois. It includes twenty nights of racing, at nine different facilities in Illinois and Iowa. Changes in the schedule are expected as race season nears, so stay tuned!

I am wondering if it is too late, or if it has even been thought about, but somehow scheduling a Friday night, Saturday night show with the IRA at Wilmot. There is plenty of space to park for fans to camp. I would like to see something like this happen, although I do not know if it is possible. The 2 day show would make it worth the trip for some of the travelers, and fans also.

A+ to scheduling a race at Lee County. Place is awesome for 410s.

With MOWA now going with a Hoosier RR as a spec tire and IRA still on the Goodyear deal I would imagine that will eliminate any co-sanctioned shows between the two groups.

That's too bad. Maybe something could be worked out as an 'open' or something. I'd like to see a weekend show at Wilmot. I don't live that far away, and I would 'camp'out' Might be something to think about in the future.

Think Knoxville is also a Goodyear track

Don't get why the MOWA would go against all other 410 tracks and sanctions in the area. Everything from Knoxville to PA, WoO, ASCOC, and IRA are all Goodyear tracks and sanctions. It seems they would be the odd man out.

Perhaps MOWA listened to the racers and actually care what they think, most of the other sanctions that went to Goodyear did so without feedback from the participants(many of whom don't care for Goodyears current product).

I might be from Ohio, but I think I can make a valid comment here.

MOWA's "area" is only near 2 other 410 stalwarts - the IRA and St. Francois Co. Raceway. In 2012 the WoO only runs once in IL (if I remember correctly), the All Stars probably won't run there at all, and why bring up PA? From what the MOWA people have stated previously, Knoxville really isn't on their radar because of the focus of MOWA's organization - which is the area nearby Jacksonville.

The rest of the sprint car racing in and around that area is 360s, so they are only losing the opportunity to work with the IRA and SFCR by going with Hoosier. The general consensus (at least here on HH) is that Goodyear has their tracks and sanctions locked down because they brought cash to the table. This is personal specualtion, but if Hoosier did the same with MOWA and Goodyear didn't why would they turn Hoosier down to only be able to possibly add 2-3 races?

I didn't mean to turn this into a Hoosier/Goodyear thing, in fact I do not know about any of that stuff, nor do I care. I am just a fan. I was just throwing an idea out there that I thought would be fun if it could happen. I am wondering if it was called something like North/South spectacular, or some other dumb name, with no official sanction from the IRA or MOWA, if they could run whatever is agreed upon. One style tire one night, the other the following night. Seems to me to be ridiculous. If it is an "open" run whatcha brung............It would be fun. Jmrt

That is a fairly good schedule for what is still really a start up series. They put on some great shows in 2011 and I for one am looking forward to seeing some more in 2012. I hope that this goes a long way toward supporting the 410's and keeping them alive and strong in the midwest! Good luck to MOWA in 2012.
