First time Chili Bowl attendance for us. Getting there Sunday, after a quick Saturday night pitstop in Little Rock to see this Zepplin tribute band called Zoso.
Any places we can go for Sunday and Monday night Bowl games, or just pure raunch rock and roll music.
Thanks to all

Been their for work a lot as I leave on the 9th to go back till the 19th, lots of good restaurants most that I have been to were paid by my work and were on the expensive side (Flemings, Toby Keith's, and Spudder) also if you gamble I have been to River Spirit and Hard Rock Casino both are nice. Also Hard Rock Casino always has big name performers so you might want to check them out.

Not to be a stick in the mud - but if you like things other than drinkin' and girls and racin' - Tulsa has an interesting array of architecture - including a beautiful Frank Lloyd Wright home - and lots of art deco buildings (including just behind the Expo center - or whatever they call it now). Many interesting museums, too. Just the residential areas between Peoria/ Lewis/ 21st & 31st are interesting - if you like that sort of thing. Downtown has some interesting buildings and church architecture, too.
What I'm saying - you can drink and watch strippers (and gamble) almost anywhere - but if you want something else - Tulsa has it.
As they said - during racing the "Center" has it all. Practice on Monday, too. Superb venue - everything under 8+ acres - and warm inside.
Most of all - get ready for a great experience.

Macpac, You'll be able to find out what local bars are good or where the live music is just by asking others you meet at the Chili Bowl. Most people there have been many times and know all the places to go.
Like Carol said, there are other things to see besides the racing (and strippers). I was surprised by all the architecture in Tusla the first time I went. I've spent whole days inside the Quiktrip Center, gone to a few of the Casinos, driven around the area, and done other stuff. On the first trip, we drove over to Rte 66 in Catoosa and checked out the Catoosa Blue Whale and stopped at the casino that is now Hard Rock Casino Tulsa on the drive back.
In 2008 we went over to the Mustang Arena at Expo Square during the day and watched the R/C Sprint Cars race in the Chili Bowl Jr. I think they are planning it again for this year Jan 11-13. It was fun to watch. (and funny, too)

Last year we went to the John Zink museum. On display was everything from Jackie Howerton's midget, an Offy engine, Indy cars,a Monza car, an old Nascar Pontiac and a Six Day Trials Husky. We took buses from the Expo Center to the museum. Best of all it was free!!!!

Plenty warm inside....because for some silly reason they refuse to open doors during races. CarbonMonoxidePoisoning (the silent killer, even if you can't hear yourself think). I'll go back when they open the doors. For a first timer, plan on being sick and drousy for a few days afterward, but don't worry it's just CarbonMonoxidePoisoning!

@34, If it was, in fact carbon monoxide poisoning, the health department would have shut it down years ago. The air quality is monitored frequently and is within acceptable levels. Maybe you have a low tolerance for the fumes or perhaps it's the dust or perhaps you are just wanting to be negative. So, it's just first timers that get sick? The reason they don't open doors during races is the noise emitted into the surrounding neighbourhoods. Between races or other breaks, if the air quality warrants, they do open the doors. I don't recall the exact figures, but about 6-8 years ago they spend millions of dollars for huge industrial exhaust fans to help with air quality and it works reasonably well.
For all you newcomers, don't let this clown discourage you from coming, you are in for the racing treat of your life!
