Thanks to KM and CK for putting this series together. It is very unusual to see two sanctioning bodies working together and they should be applauded and supported for their vision.

Who knows, this might be the start of something special... Kevin has added at least two new tracks for 2012 to his schedule in AZ and he has shown the ability to get things done (Perris for example) that are progressive.

With some other venues/series just limping along, these two guys might be exactly what sprint car fans and racers need. I'm with Brucer - Let's get it Rollin'.

This series here is all Kevin Montgomery. His idea and his vision. (and his risk!!!!!!) I'm just trying to help him make this a big, successful event for Sprint Car Racing. Would like to know what West Coast racers are planning to make the trip over for the $$$$$$$$$?

Kaeding and Smith Among Stout Driver List for Winter Challenge

Kevin Montgomery PEORIA, Ariz. (December 29th, 2011) – With less than 30 days remaining before the kick off of the 2012 Winter Challenge the staff of Canyon Speedway is busy compiling a list of stars that will take the green flag on January 27th for the first of six rounds of the Peoria, Arizona Speedweek.

Bud Kaeding, two-time Western World Champion, is among early California drivers representing the USAC West Coast Sprint Car Series. The Campbell, California residence will lead the charge for the USAC series and challenge the best of the American Sprint Car Wingless drivers that include 5-time Arizona Sprint Car Champion, Jeremy Sherman.

With the list mounting for traditional Sprint Car contingent, the list is equally growing for IMCA Modified stars.

After some bad luck during the 2011 Desert Classic, Dylan Smith will return to CSP to challenge Arizona State IMCA Champion Tim Ward and a massive list of IMCA Modified aces aiming for Winter Challenge glory.

Smith, who collected the 2011 Nebraska State Championship, will join fellow IMCA standouts as they migrate west for warmer climates and prepare to take on the best in west in the much anticipated Winter Challenge.

While the end of 2011 nears and Peoria's Canyon Speedway gears up for 2012, Arizona race fans can mark their calendar for one of the hottest events of the year as The best of the best in Wingless Sprint Cars and IMCA Modifieds tackle Canyon Speedway's 3/8-mile clay oval for six races over the course of nine days on January 27th, 28th, 29th February 1st, 3rd and 4th.

The 2012 Winter Challenge will feature top traditional Sprint Car drivers from around the country as the American Sprint Car Series faces off with the USAC West Coast Sprint Car Series while IMCA Modified aces converge in the valley of the sun for what is anticipated to be one of the largest racing events of 2012. More than $100,000 in "A" Feature money alone will be distributed over the course of the blockbuster event that kicks off with the $2,000 to win Winter Challenge opener and will conclude with the $5,000 to win finale on February 4th.

Nearly 100 drivers from across America will be expected to take part in what will be one of the must see events of 2012 and will feature the Nations top teams all gunning for one of the richest payouts in the west.
