Time to clear the air. I love reading these message boards knowing that most rumors are just rumors. Let me start off by saying we first saw Kyle last year at oval nationals and he caught our eye. At that time we were trying to find a driver to run for the USAC midget championship. We watched him again at the Chili Bowl and although his result wasn't good, we saw something special in him. Shortly after that we offered him a midget ride. We want to make it clear that we hired him on his talent alone and he never brought one dime to the program! KKM has had Toyota sponsorship and support since 2009 for the midget division and although they had never heard of Kyle Larson they supported our decision to give him a chance. Approximately 30 days later a long time friend and supporter of KKM, Steve Coulter of IWX Motor Freight stepped up and helped us put together a Silver Crown program and again like Toyota he allowed us to pick the driver ourselves. Again we picked Kyle!

We don't deny that we do rental programs, from a single race to entire seasons. In our business it's a necessity to stay alive because sponsors are hard to find. But its also necessary to go win races to keep our sponsors satisfied. By running Kyle in our house car it gives us a baseline for our less experienced drivers to learn from.

With all this being said you can't deny what Kyle has accomplished. We all saw what Kyle accomplished this year by getting an opportunity to showcase his talent. Obviously there are other kids out there that possess the same talents as Kyle but just need a chance to show their abilities. But reality is there aren't many car owners that can afford to take the chance for these kids to step up and show the world they can do it. Our advice to those kids, keep winning races and hopefully the right person will notice.

Hopefully this clarifies the situation and everyone can appreciate Kyle for the driver he is!

Keith thanks for clearing up the non sayers! Is Kyle running the same deal next year or has any doors been open? With the ecomony the way it is it will be tough to get sponsor

just a heads up though.

there is a person floating around here who i am sure will be upset you didn't consult with them before releasing your statement. 21wforacer has stated they know all the real facts and have an inside line into the workings of your team. who knows just how they will react when they find out they were left out of the loop on this one.

p.s. thanks for giving kyle the chance. most of us already knew his situation with you was how you have described it and can only say thanks again for giving the kid a chance. glad it worked out for you both.
