With all the talk about the Outlaws getting back to a 90 race schedule, the one they have released shows 75 dates (not many more than last year) and that includes all 4 days of the Nationals and all 3 days of the Gold Cup (so you can wipe 3 days off of the # of dates since not every car runs every night at either of those events.

Guess they meant to tell everyone that 90 race date schedules were a thing of the past (unless they are Sammy and run their own schedule, or are a Posse member and race more than that in just PA).

I think you will see more. They need to get something out for these shows in Indy and Fla (I believe). I saw another schedule with more dates on it. Think it was listed on here earlier.

The World of Outlaws offer the product (their exciting brand of Sprint Car racing) to the promoters all across the land. The product they offer comes with a price in the form of sanction fee, purse, staff as well as the risks of bad weather, the worst economic conditions most of us have seen in our lifetime and competing forms of entertainment for an already spread thin public.

So if some of these promoters (many who are currently at risk of closing their gates) can no longer afford to take that risk how is that the fault of the World of Outlaws? Ten years ago in a good economy tracks were begging for Outlaw dates but I think it's safe to say that is no longer the case.

I'm failing to understand how this makes the Outlaws the bad guys. It is what it is, they're a victim of the circumstances just like everyone else. To take it a step further I think if the economy were better and more tracks were booking shows, more companies sponsoring cars, fewer owners getting out of racing, then this topic would be exposed for what it is. A stupid remark by some troll who wants to tear down Sprint Car racing. I'm really getting ###ing sick of you and your kind. Why don't you go crawl back in the hole you came out of.

The schedule is the same year in and year out. They have the same tracks year in and year out. They manage to go to a new track every once in a while.

Are you kidding me???????? I cannot believe the Outlaws still aren't coming to Texas. There have been a lot of rumors over the last several years as to why they no longer come to certain tracks in our state but whatever is the actual case, I hope someday they will come back.

I guess what I was getting at was that on Winged Nation less than a month ago, Brian Carter stated that they would be right around 90 dates for 2012.

They released a schedule with 79 dates on it, 1 of which is qualifying only for the World Finals, 4 of which are the Nationals (not every car competes every night and it's show up points only), and 3 are the Gold Cup (again, not every car is to compete every night and it's show up points only).

By my math, it's much closer to the 2011 schedule (75 dates) than the 90 dates that the CEO stated publicly that they would have.

I realize the economy is bad, but you can't state one thing in a public interview and then not be anywhere close to less than 4 weeks later. What are race teams supposed to tell potential sponsors? That the CEO was mistaken about what his own company was planning? Not a good way to do business IMO.

I WANT SPRINT CAR RACING to succeed, but making bad business decisions (announcing 2 different things less than 4 weeks apart) is bad business plain and simple. Any other company would do that and they would be getting villified by the media and our government (that is itself not the best example for business).

I agree. There are so many tracks in the state of Texas (not to mention Oklahoma), I do not understand why they can't come down this way. Salina was a great race last year and the crowd was packed during the middle of the week, it was good racing. I thought for sure they would return.

Kilgore, two years ago was a great race I thought as well. I really liked the track, they did not return. I do not understand why they can not get return trips.

Maybe it is the track promoter but still two whole states and not one date. I guess I am going to have to go to Dodge City.

I think they should go to jail for doing that

Getting the government after them would help also

We have no other problems right now anyway

Were did it say that was the final dates anyway

Did he promise to have 90 or hope to have around 90

You don't think that the promoter has to put up money for those dates ,it is a show

again, IMO it's bad business.

To me it'd be no different than the TV's on sale the day after Thanksgiving. If you advertise that they are on sale for $100 and that each store will have a minimum of 90 in stock in your ad and then just a week later change it and say that the sale price is the same, but I guess we're only going to have 10 in stock at each store instead.

It's called false advertising.

Brian Carter stated that they would have almost 90 race dates and that if they didn't, the # would be closer to 90 than it was the 75 they scheduled in 2011. They release the schedule and it's 79 which is much closer to 75 than it is 90.

I realize that promoter's have to put up the $$ to book shows and the economy is still bad.

Maybe what Brian Carter should have said was: "We have XX amount of shows booked with signed contracts and we have XX dates with contracts waiting to be signed. Currently, the schedule shows XX dates because we will only put dates with signed contacts on our tentative schedule."

Unfortunately for the Outlaws, generally the tentative schedule has always contained races/dates where the races HAVE NOT been confirmed or contracts signed with the promoters and races almost allways fall off the schedule and a few are added to take their place. The total # of dates on the tentative schedule has almost always been the # that ends up on the final one (prior to rainouts).

March 3rd USA Tucson, the same Saturday as a 2 day (2nd & 3rd) ASCS National show with ASCS Southwest points in Peoria, only 156 miles apart. Bummer for the fans to have to decide where to go and bummer for the drivers to have to decide which to support.
