He mentioned they should go back to work after the short track nationals.

“The last few years all I needed to do was finish and I’d win but things broke
or different things have happened like a tire going flat or whatever,” Swindell
explained after his ninth career STN feature start. “We had a flat tonight but
it didn’t slow us down, with three wheels it was still better than anybody else.
Those guys better go back to work.”

So apparently they did. Schatz had to start 17th in Thursdays prelim and got to 3rd and was coming in a hurry, so starting 5th tonight was no big deal as he schooled Sammy in traffic. Maybe Sam should have let all the air out of his left front tire tonight? He could have at least stuck around for the 3rd place interview!

Oh! That's right, Donny wasnt in Little Rock, was he? Looks like the 41 went to work then. LOL!

It's not about stats...it's about disrespecting all the other drivers and car owners with smart a** comments. Donny Schatz's stats as of right now are pretty darn impressive.

At least 5 times as many WoO wins, with tougher competition....1 Nationals.....5 Chili Bowls....Trophy Cups...Kings Royals (remember when he lapped up to 5th place?)...Gold Cups...Silver Cups...Slick 50's....Wing...Nonwing....Hell, he ran part time this year with the WoO and led more laps than anyone there....I'll compare stats ALL day long. Donny is good, but to come on her and try to make him out to be better than one of the best to ever strap in, just shows one of three things. A lack of knowledge...Ignorance or stupidity...

You are paranoid Hawker...the thread started because of a comment Sammy made in Little Rock. You started on about their stats. Since you're into stats...try to find out how many races each have raced and their win percentage. I bet it's close.

I am far from an Outlaw fan, but I don't know that WoO wins in the 1980s had far tougher competition than today. I would sorta lean the opposite way. I realize you had Steve Kinser and Doug Wolfgang in their prime to contend with. But look at how many different guys could win back then compared to how many different guys can win now. Even at the Nationals, look at the separation in time trials between first to 20th or first to last back in the 1980s compared to today.

To be fair let's compare stats at the same age .By the time Donny gets in his 50's there is no telling how many wins he will have. I'm not a big Woo fan but got to give him credit he is 1 of the best out there.

Mid 50s? Schatz is only 33 or 34. He's got 20 more years to match Sammy. And he's already beaten him for Nationals wins and Outlaw championships.

Schatz's will not be racing in his 50's. We will be lucky if there is any racing 20 years from now.

Hawker,

Who are you getting your stats from, as they are apparently not a certified statistician. Beginning the 2011 year, Sam had 272 wins and Don had 105. Now doing my simple 4th grade math just doesn't equate to 5 times more. Could you at least give us the math equation you used to get your answer? Also, Schatz has 5 Nationals with much more competitive fields, Kings Royal, Gold Cup and Numerous big time wins in Australia. I wont even mention that Schatz started behind Sam in both this years Knoxville Nationals and last nights Western World race and was first to the line in both races. I am excited to see what Donny's stats look like when he is indeed in his 50's, as I think they will dwarf what Sam has in the books right now. What was that math equation again?

I'd take Sammy over Donny any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Yea, Donny ain't bad - but Sammy has a craptruck more swagger, experience and knowledge of sprint cars than Donny will ever hope to have.

How good is Sammy - he's referred to with just his first name and everyone knows who you are talking about. Only a few people in sprintcars are/were that respected and good.

One thing is for sure---Sammy is a much bigger D!<k than Donny is. There does that clear things up?

Sammy who ? Just kidding, Sammy won the first outlaw show i ever seen. Passed Kinser on a restart at Kokomo speedway. You have to respect him , But im still a Kinser fan. So I dont really care for him. But to do what Swindell and Kinser is doing at there age is wild.

Your stats are skewed. Remember back a number of years when the WoO started counting prelims as "wins". But they didn't "grandfather" in Steve, or Sammy's prelims towards their "win count". If they would have done what's right, both would have near double what they have today. Sammy has more "big" wins than anyone out there.

What truly amazes me is, he didn't even win the race & you guys still want to discuss Sammy. Here the guy goes to victory lane in Little Rock and tells the guys to "go back to work" & evidently Jason Johnson did & look how much better he did this weekend. Sammy may just be helping the competeition to get to the next level & dirtracer84 just wants to run him down. Whether you like him or not he just helps the sport. Look at Napcar, they are doing all they can to create a rivalry to sell tickets & here we are in the sprintcar world with a legendary bad guy (for some) that you guys can't help but discuss whether he win or losses. Napcar would love to have a Sammy Swindell personality in their field. This guy sells tickets, even Ted Johnson knew this. He used the marketing scheme for years Steve & Sammy, Good vs. Bad & we all bought into it. Even today I know this & I still pick sides. When he retires the sport will suffer, there is no one today to pick up the torch & do what he does for the sprintcars world. Love him or hate him, your watching him. Even dirtracer84 looked at results this morning & the only post he could come up with is about a man who ran 3rd. But we all know that man was SAMMY.
