The guy is very annoying! Are we listening to a race or listening to the auction? The guy talks way too fast and is hard to understand. I guess listening to Johnny Gibson spoils a guy, but this guy is very hard to listen to.

That's Brian Hulbert, the voice of the ASCS National Tour for 2012. He will be working with the Racinboys on their broadcasts. He is miles ahead on anyone else they have run out there on their broadcasts.

Met Brian last week at Las Cruces and he indicated he will be announcing next year for the Racinboys ASCS National races. Yes he talks fast, is really enthused, and seems very knowledgeble about the sport, including the drivers, track conditions, etc. We may just have to learn to listen quick....but then again...the racing is fast and he tells it like it is. ASCS is fortunate to have some absolutely great announcers. One of the best is Randy Ward out of San Angelo. He does a lot of the Lone Star and Sooner region races and really helps make the show a truly enjoyable event. Looks like Saturday will be one of the closest and most exciting season finales in a while. Certainly hope Shane is ok after the incident and able to race Saturday.

I gotta agree, there was none better than Jack Miller annoucing Dirt Races. And I also agree Brian needs to lay off the coffee, energy drinks etc. He is very difficult to follow.

Brian, a word of advise from Old Racers...Slow down and you will go faster!!!

I enjoy Bryans call of the races. I'm not sure there is anyone else out there that is so thorough of calling the action in detail throughout the field.

And not taking anything away from Johnny Gibson, but for me, it's become almost rehearsed. Probably because he has to call the same thing night in and night out. He's good, but to yell out quiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick tiiiiiiime! on the first car out for qualifying is somewhat annoying.

But thanks to both of you for what you do!

Funny, I thought the same thing, he sounds like an dang auctioneer, but at least I get to hear the ASCS races I can't attend on the net for free, so I can't complain.

Gotta agree with TxOutlaw, Randy Ward is very very good at announcing does his homework and keeps his audience well informed on what is going on and around the track and does it all with just a lineup sheet and the rest is by memory which again comes from doing his homework, like TxOutlaw said he makes it enjoyable. Has done announcing at Dirt Tracks since he was just a kid and I was lucky enough to have gotten to listen to him announce during all those years.

Randy and Tony Bockhoven do a excellent job each year at the Chili Bowl ,Especially on Sat. when they start at 12pm with the letter J or K Hot Laps and work there way to the Sat. night A main which is some 10 hrs. later.

I like Bryan....authentic emotion in his voice...sprint car racing is fast and furious just like Bryan's delivery. I get tired just listening to him Smile . Keep up the good work Bryan.

There are a lot of different announcers that are great at what they do. They have their own style and delivery....thank God...wouldn't want them all to be identical. It takes special talent to do this job and to do it well take more talent. Bryan had come a long way from last season and will only get better.

Just stating a couple of facts and examples on the subject from a different perspective.

First off, I think you'll be hard pressed to find someone more enthused about racing than Bryan.

And he's not one-dimensional either. Meaning, he can announce every detail about a 80-car modified race one weekend, then do the same at a sprint race the next.

Part of the inherent problem with an audio webcast, is the fact that you have no visual reference as a listener.

But when you combine both elements, I think it all works good.

For example, recently at the LoneStar Sprint Nationals, we had squeezed Scott and Bryan (RacinBoys) into the in the same, loud room as the scorers yelling information to the drivers on the RaceCeivers plus the transponder team doing more of the same to the track workers radios.

In the other side of same the press box, Bill W was doing the PA announcing for the grandstand fans. So there was plenty of inherent noise and distraction going on.

Scott stepped outside the press box to shoot video, but again, when you combine the two together (audio & video), and now knowing all of the distractions and noise where Bryan was trying to concentrate on what he was doing - I don't think you can even notice it when watching the video and listening to his audio of the LSN feature race on October 14:

I'm glad someone is willing to provide all of us with this service, as we all can't be at every race. Plus they're all easy and enjoyable to work with.

Keep up the good job RacinBoys!

Maybe it's just me, but Randy Ward sounds like Will Ferrel doing Alex Trebeck on SNL Jeopardy. Check it out on YouTube.

I have listened to a lot of races and Bryan has become one of my favorites. Not only does he keep up with the action, he keeps up with the car sponsors too. He may talk fast, but he has a lot to get into a short time. Give him a listen for a few weeks and he will grow on you.

Good job tonight Bryan!

Are you kidding me??!! This guy is very good. He sounds real and sincere and really brings the excitement to us listeners, If he ain't better than Gibson now, he will be in short order. Sounds to me like another grumpy ol' sprintcar "fan", gotta complain about something.

That may be so but I think he probably enjoys having a couple of months off during the winter. Give the guy a break and let him recharge his batteries! wink

Have we nothing better to do than complain about an announcer calling a sprint race on the internet, this guy talks at a normal pace when chit chatting and bantering between races, but puts it into overdrive when calling the racing

Thought he did a great job . Got all the people paying the bills on these race teams mentioned ,also heard the names of the drivers seeing as there were a lot of matching numbers, and yes I would hire him for an auction hehehe .
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.
