Bud Fourth at Oval Nationals

Bud Fourth at Oval Nationals

PETERSEN MEDIA- Bud Kaeding put together a consistent weekend in Lake Perris, CA and when the weekend was over, he found himself wrapping up the 2011 Oval Nationals with a fourth place finish.

The weekend kicked off Thursday night, with Bud timing in his BK Racing/Alviso Rock/SCI entry in 14th quick.

After charging from 6th to fourth in his heat race, Kaeding found himself on the pole for the 25-lap preliminary feature event.

Sharing the front row with Nic Faas, Kaeding settled into second early in the feature, as the race went wire-to-wire with no stoppages.

While running through heavy lapped, traffic, Bud fell back to the third spot, where he would ultimately finish.

Mother Neature had her way on Friday, so Saturday turned into a two program day with the Friday event being rain during the day.

Bud’s second prelim started off similarly to the opener as he timed his BZE/K&N Filters/Factory Kahne Shocks entry in with the 13th fastest lap of the day.

Bud’s fourth place finish in his heat transferred him into the feature, where he would start in the ninth spot.

During the Friday feature, Kaeding was not able to get moving forward, and ended in the 10th position.

With his preliminary performances, Kaeding was locked into the 40-lap feature, and started in the 7th position.

Kaeding began working his way through the field, as he quickly cracked the top five.

The Campbell, CA native took advantage of a few caution flags that bunched the field back up, and as the checkered flag flew he was in the fourth spot.

“We had a nice weekend,” said Bud. “I think we could have been a little better, and I would of liked to get up to Damion (Gardner) and battle for the lead, but with the caliber of cars here, fourth is a nice finish. I have to thank all my guys for their work this weekend, especially with the double show on Saturday.”

Bud Kaeding would like to thank Kaeding Performance, Sprint Car Innovations, Alviso Rock, BZE, Factory Kahne Shocks, Racing Optics, K&N Filters, Yak Graphics, ButerBuilt, and Brown and Miller for their continued support in 2011.

ON TAP: Kaeding will be back in action with the USAC National Sprint Car series as they invade the Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA on Saturday, November 12th.
