Screven Motor Speedway Management Cancels Event Set For Nov. 2

Camargo, IL (10-24-11) By Brian Liskai – Screven Motor Speedway in
Sylvania, Ga., has cancelled the Winter Freeze make-up event scheduled for
Wednesday, Nov. 2, that was scheduled to wrap up the season for the All
Star Circuit of Champion Sprint Cars.

The race was originally scheduled in February, and after heat races were
completed, rains forced the cancellation of the feature, and it, along with
a separate All Star sanctioned event were rescheduled to the Nov. 2 date.

“As promoter/owner, I would like to apologize for making a very bad
re-scheduling decision on our inaugural Winter Freeze rain-out back in
February,” said Screven Promoter/Owner James Redd Griffin in a press
release. “Unfortunately, the Wednesday night, November 2 show will be
cancelled due to many fans expressing that a Wednesday night will be
impossible to support. November 2 is a work night and most of all a school
night for the kids. Without that support, running this show would be a bad
financial decision for the track.”

“I understand that this may upset many fans that were planning to come down
to attend this show prior to the World Finals at Charlotte. At first, this
seemed to be the best time to catch the 410 sprinters, that rarely make
their way South. However, from the response that I have received through
phone/emails and personal contact, most have said that it is too difficult
to plan to attend a show on a week night,” continued Griffin.

Griffin said all of the rain-out tickets, including the Winter Freeze, will
still be honored at the remaining 2011 events at Screven Motor Speedway. He
said all rain-out tickets from the inaugural Winter Freeze will be honored
for Screven’s second attempt at the Winter Freeze on Friday, Feb. 10, 2012
as the All Star Circuit of Champion Sprint Cars will be at the track.

The Second Annual Winter Freeze will feature the All Star Circuit of
Champion Sprint Cars that will compete for a $5,000 to win event on Friday,
Feb. 10, 2012
, and another $5,000 to win event on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012.

The cancellation ends the 2011 season for the All Star Circuit of Champions
and Tim Shaffer will be crowned the series champion for the third straight
year. He also won the series’ Ohio and Great Plains region points and the
$20,000 and $10,000 prizes respectively. Though he was injured and out for
the remainder of the season, the cancellation also means Lance Dewease is
the All Star’s Eastern Region champion, earning $20,000.
