He was already the King of the USMTS, 9 championships and who knows how many feature wins. Now he is also the "King of America" Modified Nationals champion. In the 1st ever event at the Humboldt Speedway before a large crowd Shryock started outside front row and followed Mark Dobson until until John Tesch passed Shryock and Dobson to take the lead.

Shryock then got around Dobson dogged Tesch until he made the pass for the lead. All of this took place behind a pack of back runners. With a late caution flag you were expecting some sort of crazy finish much like the three that taken place on the three preceding nights.

Johnny Scott and Terry Phillips had made their way into 2nd and 3rd places, nothing ws going to happen like that to the King on championship night plus the track was getting pretty unracable, it had become a follow the leader around the bottom.

This race was not only the highest paying dirt track race in the state of Kansas but was the best race in the state of Kansas this year. Todd Staley and the USMTS have reach a pentacle in racing that many racing series just do not measure up to.
Besides the racing you have got the best drivers in the modified class with late model drivers dropping in for big shows, and top equipment bar none.
For your dollar spent on racing you get more bang for your buck here than any race you go to. Thanks to everyone for the time and effort. Enjoy.

Congrats to Kelly Shyrock on the win...I want to give a ataboy to the track for Trying to make the A-main and track better...If who ever reads this want to know what im talking about go to Deer Creek Speedway IN Spring valley,MN they know how to work the track,,,Humboldt Speedway made a great 2 and sometime 3 lane track before the A-main Tilled and tried to rework..A-main was one lane only Sucks for the Fans..Drivers..Reasons we had to wait well over hr in the stands for them to attempt to till and rework for better results...If you like follow the leader racing or knock someone out the way to get front that was the track for you...

Just my opion and leaving the door open for hope major inprovements....I have alwasy gone in the Pits for driver contact and nothing like the smell of cars and fuel...The pit side stands,., to small area..Was so packed people had no respect and sat in the walk lanes, we had to ask people to move to be able to get down and back up for only bathroom breaks...Back straight away pooor lighting for a track spending $$$$ on improvements..And love the comments of packs stands on general admission side..There were more than enough seats open even for the A-main...Hope the next go around in March the track has improved on all the above plus...Life time racer and fan....

I am looking at having setting up live video for all races i attend next yr..so keep your eyes and ears open....
