For Immediate Release Missouri’s Rusty Dukes Steals The Sooner Midget Nationals! Missouri’s Rusty Dukes ended up taking the money and the Sooner Midget Nationals trophy from I-44 Riverside Speedway, back to the “Show Me State” on Saturday night! Preliminary night winner Kevin Bayer jumped out to the point on the first lap, but that didn’t last long as Dukes got by him to lead the second lap. Bayer wasn’t happy with anything but first and he made a third lap pass back for the lead and held the point until Colorado’s Todd Plemons took advantage of a rare Bayer mistake on lap 7 to take the top spot! Plemons lead was short lived as he and Andrew Felker would tangle on the next lap with both cars being retired from the event. Dukes would inherit the lead at that point and never look back throughout the 30 lap main event! Dukes who is an experienced late model and modified driver was ecstatic in victory lane saying, “that was awesome, I sure hope we get to come back to this place, because that was the most fun I’ve had in a race car in along time!” The KMK Transportation-SOUTHERN OPEN WHEEL SERIES and I-44 Riverside Speedway would like to thank all the drivers and teams for coming out, but most importantly we would like to thank the fans for supporting this awesome show! Heat Race Winners: Crawford, Burke, Plemons, Dukes Melmark Pipe and Supply Dash Results: Bayer, Dukes, Johnson, Plemons B-Main Results: Taylor, Thomas, Stasa, Pardo, Harvey, Harr, Ruffin, McVay, Allen, Jackson, Halford, Snow, Kreisel, McCune, Arnall A-Main Results: Dukes, Bayer, Burke Jr, J. Stasa, Fenton, Gherke, Loyet, P. Stasa, Crawford, Hahn, Johnson, Taylor, Thomas, Bell, Cole, Schudy, Plemons, Felker, Sewell, Pardo The K.M.K. Also thanks to Michael at Thriller Productions! Go to thrillerproductions.com for videos of both nights!

I would like to thank you for putting on two great nights of midget racing. I attended Saturday night and enjoyed every minute of the night. Speaks well for an Oklahoma track to have a field of 32 midgets show up when the Belleville Midget Nationals this year only had 25 midgets show up. Thank you once again.

Mike

I agree with Mike and an earlier post from the Holley's. Thank you for putting this on and while I know you had tons of things going on at once and were overwhelmed, the final product seemed successful on the outside looking in.

May you continue your midget series and keep this "Sooner Midget Nationals" an annual event.

I would like them at I-44 a couple times a year.

I would just like to thank everyone who came out and supported the show this weekend! I would also like to brag on I-44 Riverside Speedway a little bit for committing to the S.O.W.S. and the fans to bring some awesome midget racing to Oklahoma City!......F.Y.I.....We had 32 midgets in the pits on Friday night in Oklahoma City, OK for the Sooner Midget Nationals while Kokomo, IN only had 22 midgets in the pits on Friday night for the Kokomo Clash....That is pretty cool!!!
