Is there a book or website I can visit to learn about injection tuning and set-up? I'm helping a friend with his 305 sprint, and we've been having trouble finding a good base tune-up. I've figured out by asking people, how to set the barrel valve, high-speed bypass, and I understand that It's a constant flow system, metered on the return by orfices and poppet valves. The base tune-up I was told to run varies depending on who I ask, but the most reputable person (in my opinion) I asked gave me a tune that worked pretty good but was very lean, and was supposed to be pretty rich/safe. Is my fuel pump weak? Thanks for any advice

What kind of 305? The best advice I can give you is to take it to a chassis dyno that way you can watch the AF ratio and how much fuel pressure it's making. That will tell you if your pump is worn out. In my Racesaver 305 I run size 10 nozzles with the barrel valve set at 18%. I can't recall what pill I've got or even what the high speed is set at. I break the fuel system down but I never touch the HS. The car was put on adyno 6 years ago and I haven't touched it since (been 6 years since a freshen too)

Taking the motor, and putting it on a dyno is really the answer. The engine builder then can give you the correct fuel settings for your pump, HS, and give it to you based on your cam, nozzles, etc. There really is no way of giving you a baseline as every motor is different. The size of the pump, HS, pill(main and HS), all have a lot to do with how efficiently you motor works. "Rich motors live, lean motors die." Good luck....Dyno time is well worth the money.

on our racesaver 305, we don't run a highspeed. Just the return back to the tank from pump, size 10 nozzels, 68pill in return, We also do a old school trick and it worked everytime other then using the gauge. Take a 1/8 drill bit and adjust the barrel valve to that.. Worked for us. But the dyno really helped us. Where are you all located.

Very lean is BAD. If you do not dyne go back and put a smaller pill in main pill bypass. About 4-6 sizes smaller. Raise the pressure on high speed and a smaller pill in HS. To me the only high speed to have is Kinsler diaphram type. These should be checked every week I am talking about the $130.00 diaphram not the $450 one
