I see Knoxville has their 2012 schedule out, and they have moved the USAC race to Saturday night and Sunday is now the 410 race. I kinda liked the 360 finale with the 410 program. Probably doing it so people will attend better this way instead of having USAC run by themselves with the 305s.

Agreed on the smart move to get people to both nights. Would like it if they had the 305s Sunday. I know some think 305s are boring but I think they usually have great racing plus it gives those guys a moment in the spot light that week. Maybe give them a bigger purse for that race. Either way good they're trying some new stuff to keep it fresh.

Good to see this. Hopefully this will boost car count a little. Like LR said it would be nice a decent paying 305 race during this week, and possibly pull in some fresh faces to race.

World of Outlaws back to a one night show in June and the Nat's.
IMCA shootout on a Sunday in April? I wonder if Toby Kruse has had an influence already? (how many more IMCA shows will they have in 2013?) It is really a non-risk show since IMCA cars pretty much pay for their own purse but my bet is that mother nature will win that date.
I do wish the LM Nat's were unsanctioned instead of Lucas Oil Sanctioning....it seems the provisionals and the extra time taken to line up/bogus cautions so drivers can pit and tweak the setup left a lot of pissed off fans. Hopefully Knoxville can wield a heavy hand and take control of this show back from the touring group.

Seems like a good idea.
How long is the tow from Des Moines to I-55?

About 6 hours, give or take. It's about 325 miles.

Wonder if that April IMCA shootout is a late model or mod or stock car show? Or several classes? Would like to see 2 sprint shows after the Nationals.
He can drag in as much of that IMCA stuff as he wants as long as they don't run that junk on a night when they are running sprint cars.

I believe it has started!!
The 2012 tentative schedule has added an IMCA race plus a 410 race and then takes away 2 305 races from last year's schedule.
My question is why they cut the future 360 and 410 racers. 305s have been bring in the younger crowed that everyone keeps talking about trying to find ways to get them to the track.
It is a known fact that some fair board members and track officials do not care for the 305s. They have been very up front about that. For that reason they do not tech nor care about the motor rules because they would just have to enforce them. They just feel their time is much more valuable them to have to spend any time with the 305s.
305s spend the same money to get thru the gate as 360s and 401s. So why would the fair board give up that money when all you hear is how much money they loss each night.
Makes no sense to me

To me it looks like a IMCA Deery Brothers Late Model show. They have been running them the latter part of July in the middle part of the week, the past couple of years. So next year maybe they moved it up to a weekend instead.
Also noticed that that Masters Classic has apparently come to an end also.

I also like the non-wing with the 360 Nationals on Saturday. There will be more people in the stands just because there is a wing show going on. I didn't think of the Ironman 55 but that's a great point. Plus it would give some of these drivers a chance to run 3 big races in 3 days: Ironman 55, Knoxville, and Front Row Challenge if they so choose. As far as the schedule as a whole, I like starting ealier in April (I know rain has often washed away those early dates). The IMCA stuff I can take it or leave it, not a big fan of modifides, but if it gets butts in the seats then fine.

I've heard the spring IMCA show will include Hobby Stocks, Stock Cars, and Mods. this was in
the works before Toby was announced as the replacement. I wouldn't be surprised to see 305's
added to the Sunday night 410 show. My only complaint is i'm tired of freezing my bag off at the
late model nat's each year. wish it wouldn't be so late!

I'm not a fan of 1 race after the nationals. I understand they are starting earlier in the year but odds are those early races will rain out. if they're going to have just 1 race after nationals just flip the dates and have the nationals as the season finale maybe have some kind of bonus for the track champions if they can finish highest of the Knoxville regulars in the 360/410 Nationals. I dunno just an idea..

That really works for me because I would rather see the wingless cars than the 410`s so that saves me $$$ for a motel room +. Wonder if it will end being a All Star race on sunday night. The drama is the 360 finals for me and this really adds to the show I think.

I personally look forward to the races that they have after the nationals even more as I get older.
The Sprint Car shows after the nat's have become a downer becuase the greatest sprint car racing of the year just got done.
I used to never go see anything but sprint cars, but the AMA bikes and the Late Models put on GREAT racing, and IMO, the Late Model Nationals remind me of the Nationals of the mid-80's, the fast guys start 10th in their heats and they can get to the front in 10 laps due to the difference in speed from the fast guys and everyone else (those days are long gone in the sprint cars).
I like the idea of a bonus for highest finishing regular at the Nat's, but I think it would take the track title down in status, as it would be an afterthought to the rest of the week (the way that if a non-chaser wins the last NASCAR race of the season, the don't even get the pub, the champ does).

Between this and the race at Eagle on Friday USAC may have finally succeeded in killing the Belleville Midget Nationals barring a move to a different weekend by the folks in charge of the Midget Nationals. If so it will be another item that occurred under Kevin Miller's reign - if so: way to go bub. I actually hoped the folks at Knoxville would see this for what it was and say no but I pretty much knew it was wishful thinking. Whether it conflicts with the Midget Nationals or not I'll be hoping for rain in the area of both these events much like Eagle received for their Friday date this year.
