Has others had the Dart shp block fail. Locally we saw two blocks fail. One in stock car and one in 360 sprint. Both had about 7 races on them. Both new this year. Both blocks had cy. wall on #4 cy have a hole size of fist fall into water jacket. Rods were in one piece so rod never failed . It is sort of strange that both blocks failed the exact same.

My question would be was it bored too large? And were they running a shorter rod? A shorter rod makes the piston scub the cylinder wall harder. If bored too much, the walls get thin and weak enough that the rod can push the piston through the wall. Im curious to know because I have one of these blocks and haven't started building yet.

Nothing wrong with the SHP blocks from Dart. I know of 3 ASCS sprint motors built using the SHP blocks, and staying together and running upfront. Down side is you can't lighten them up much, and they have minor differences in the priority oiling.

I'm running a 358 motor with the SHP. No issues so far. New block this year.
