Congrat's to Ronnie Gardner for the Win, and Thanks to John Aden for the
Track Help and a great job for 2nd.....He was on a rail till the yellow, when
Gardner got his car hooked up and took the lead!!!! We also want to Thank the
Sprint Cars that were there for a great Show in front on the Largest Sat. Night
Race Night Attendance of the year!!!!! This was a fun Show that offered
something for everyone...."VRP" will continue to support 410 Open
Shows!!!!!!

In the Ventura Fans Thread , It looks like The Promoter called it , less than 10 Sprint Cars & a Bigger Crowd , did anyone take your bet Promoter ?

Hi Roy....Below is the Post you were talking about!!!!! No Takers..(lol)
Unfortunately I did hit it.....Sad that we are at this point with Car
Counts....I ask myself is it because it was not a Guarantee Purse???? But then I
look at our Last Show where we posted $2,500 to Win....and to be Honest with you
if it was not for the Arizona guys.....We would have still been at about 13
Cars....I guess reality is that if it is not a USAC Show...It is what it
is.....About 9-13 Guys that Really Love (or can afford) Weekly Racing....and we
Thank those Teams that were there!!!! Many hard core on this board made fun and
joked about what Promotion we did for this event with the addition of Monster
Trucks and the Dragon and the other classes.......But it did deliver the Biggest
Crowd of the year!!!!! I was hoping for a great turn out of Sprint Cars to show
case to a new fan base....But nope!!! So as a Promoter trying to keep the lights
on, reality is that the days of big weekly 410 Races (other than USAC) are
pretty much DEAD!!!! I saw this in Drag Racing where every Sat. or Sun. you
could go to Irwindale, Lions, Carlsbad, San Fernando and see a great Nitro
filled Show......Now there are 23 National NHRA Events....and No local tracks to
see weekly "Nitro" Drag Races.....That is where 410's are heading....(Pray
Perris stays alive).......The Days of seeing 35 - 410's in weekly Racing action
are GONE!!!!!! (Sad but True). We will continue to support 410 Sprint Cars cause
they are just flat "Bitchin", and I love them!!!!! But expect "Billy the Bomb"
and other Circus Acts at that same Show.......(Just my 2 cents)....Anyone have the answer?????

Hi Derp....We are not trying to Schedule against any other
Tracks....Problem is that Ventura has 3 Sprint Car Shows this month, and I have
to run x amount of Dates per my contract or we get fined!!!! The other thing is
that we saw from our 360 only Show, that even with Ventura off, the 360's really
don't show up at Victorville...This is mainly a 410 Show that is open to
360's????....We said from the beginning that we would run 410 Sprint Car Shows
to give who ever wants to Race a place to race. Doesn't matter if it's 20+ cars
(Which we would like) or 10 Cars...(Which is more realistic) at least they have
a place to come play!!!! it's sad, but it is what it is....Unless it is a USAC
Show, you better have support divisions, and Monkey's riding elephants, if you
want any crowd.......I will put money on it right now, before I head out to the
Track....That we have less than 10 Sprint cars tonight, and a Bigger Crowd than
we normally do.....It is almost noon.....Let's see at 11PM if I called
it....Hope I am wrong about car counts.....But bet I'm not!!!!

Looks to like sprint car racing at Victorville is a waste of time. Nine cars! Another disaster in the desert. Time to take the Victorville off me schedule until there is a new promoter

could someone please tell me what a promoter is supposed to do?here we have a promoter who offers a purse he can afford and nobody shows up.there are alot of drivers who can use the track time look what its done for the Williams boys and R.Gardner .

I'm sure the promoter would pay more if he could,but he can't chew up some leaves and shit dollar bills

I have to think its money.

Noone has any and to finish out the CRA or other track schedules or even hit the money shows, you have to not tear your stuff up before those shows.

Looking who was at VRP there are some teams I spoke to last week that wanted to go for the seat time but really couldnt afford to run three weeks in a row with Perris last week, VRP this week and Perris next.

I think its that simple at the moment. Everyones broke. Even the support classes are showing some serious attrition.

Maybe its just me...But the usac guys have there 2 biggest shows comming up. And yes they are National shows that pay big money. Why would any of the top team risk there equipment at a track that has a reputation of not being very good. I work on one of the best usac teams and have worked on cars at all the victorville shows except last night. To be truthful...i didn't want to run my cars at victorville because of how the track has been the last few races.

Promoter is hitting on it , You need more Big Events that attract attn. in today's market . We need to get back to Running Sprint Cars & Midgets & not this alphabet soup of 43 gazzillion classes of Sprint Cars

You need rivalries like NARC vs CRA vs ARA Sills Gurney vs Thompson Oskie vs Shuman McSpadden & promote the Clash of these drivers of EPIC proportions etc , may be corny but I see very little controversy,attitude ,swagger being promoted amongst drivers & teams every one seems to be in the Rodney King mode can't wee all get along LOLLLLLL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you need some guys in black hats to contrast the dudes in white hats , I bet Steve understands this , I will be interested in his thoughts on this ?

If we adjust our thinking a little you can build a brand new Midget for 15,000 & be as fast as the cars today but not with the current specs today , a Midget at 15 K brand new puts it in the realm of the avg Jane & Joe toting a lunch pail to work , more cars = more fans

Sprint Cars need to be racing under 1 set of rules whether it is a local show or a traveling series that way if a local show has a special event the travelers can show up against the locals something you can promote

On a local show take VRP if Aden & Steve had a deal were the kids can run 1/4 midgets ,mini dwarfs , sprint 500, 600 micros etc. from 2-6 on Adens track, Mom & Dad can race their Big cars @ VRP from 6:30-10 now you have a deal were families can spend 1 day racing instead of having to make a choice between kids or adults racing , helps make a local show work

Example on a local deal, VRP could headline 6 sprint shows , 5 Midget shows , 8 Stock Car shows & then have 3-5 Special events that you bring in the Heavy Hitters vs the Locals , again you have a Big deal to promote

It's going to take cooperation between Promoters, Car Owners, Sanctions, Track Owners/Fairgrounds , something that is easy to type on the puter ..... but very difficult to accomplish !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
