Alright...tomorrow is looking AWESOME to talk sprint car racing....any last minute "top ten" entries for the Sides list? Anything we need to cover with Joey or Stevie?
SALDANA, SMITH AND MORE ON TUESDAY'S WINGED NATION
CONCORD, N.C. – Another marquis event is on the winged sprint car calendar this weekend and "Winged Nation" will be talking extensively about the National Open at Williams Grove Speedway in Pennsylvania. The World of Outlaws Joey Saldana and "Pennsylvania Posse" driver Stevie Smith will be discussing the race and other things with show host's Kendra Jacobs and Steve Post.
Saldana has been an inspirational story over the past week, successfully returning to the cockpit of his Kasey Kahne Racing Red Bull-sponsored sprint car following series injury just nine weeks earlier. The "Brownsburg Bullett" suffered a shattered arm, fractured ribs and a punctured lung in a July crash at the famed Eldora Speedway in Ohio. Last week, Saldana drove to victories in his first two starts after his recovery period – including a Friday night win at Eldora.
Smith, an Oklahoma native who races in Pennsylvania, has been a racing successfully in the Keystone State for a number of years. He recently scored victory in the prestigious Tuscarora 50 race at Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway claiming more than $13,000 in prize money. Smith toured for years with the World of Outlaws scoring 67 series wins and also has more the 20 victories at Williams Grove.
The National Open is one of the major events in the sprint car season, with $50,000 going to the winner. The event highlights the passionate rivalry between the travelling World of Outlaw drivers and the hosting drivers making up the "Pennsylvania Posse."
Also on the program are results and a preview of other sprint car races and a light-hearted "Top-10 Things Jason Sides Will Announce Later This Season". Last week on the show, Sides – the popular World of Outlaw driver – mentioned an upcoming announcement and fans have been sending in "suggestions" about what the announcement will be.
"Winged Nation" covers winged sprint car racing across America each week streamed live at 12:30 Eastern on Tuesdays and then available on www.MotorRacingNetwork.com throughout the week. Jacobs is the daughter of sprint car legend Kenny Jacobs and a former Miss Knoxville Nationals. Post is a broadcaster with MRN Radio and passionate dirt track racing fan.
