I also wondered about the meaning behind that comment from Smoke. A few minutes after that interview I saw it again on ESPN's Sportscenter. That second time I listened more carefully and noticed he also said something that sounded like-- sometimes you have to make changes in your personal life. I wonder if that means he's no longer involved with J. Zemken?

You wouldn't think that he would bring up his personal life that way in Victory Lane. What is known is that they replaced the director of competition at Stewart-Haas this week. I would imagine his comments were more of a reference to that, but who knows? They promoted someone from within to take the position, but rumors are floating around about Greg Zipadelli going over there.

Can anyone confirm there ever was a relationship with JZ? What is her sprint car driver status now?

From SPEED TV's web site here are victory lane quotes from Smoke--" We got rid of some dead weight earlier this week". " Sometimes you have to make adjustments in your life". No mention of crew or race shop. In the same SPEED article Darien Grubb indicated there hadn't been any recent crew, shop or management changes. The meaning behind Tony's remarks were also questioned tonight by a caller to Wind Tunnel, but no exact answer was obtained.

Several weeks ago, I did hear Tony say in an interview that he was dating her.

Actually I was mistaken my a long shot. The personnel changes actually happened back in June. I'm always a day late and a dollar short. Or maybe a couple of months late?
