Very sad to report that this sport lost one of the good people last night. Mike Avilla, "Carwash Mike, who was a regular poster on this and many boards passed away. Mike was a regular at races all over the country and friends with everyone he met. He will be sorely missed by one and all.

I'm glad that I got to see and talk with Mike at the gold cup.
for once in my life I'm at a loss to discribe how sad this makes me.Mike was a great friend

I'm stunned. It's going to take me quite a while to come to grips with the reality of this since I recently spent time with him at Gold Cup. I'll just have to keep reminding myself that I was fortunate to have known him and to make every effort to follow his example of a life that was well lived and touched countless people in ways they'll never forget. This is really a shitty day!! I was just chatting with him on Facebook the other day about going to the Trophy Cup and Oval Nationals! He had said the Gold Cup was his last race of the year, because of his health. This is a tough pill to swallow RIP "Carwash"
Trophy Cup......Best race of the year hands down!
