Has anyone played around with one of these 1/2 downtube cars? If so, what are the pros and cons? Are they meant to run winged or non-wing? I keep seeing the ad pop up on the hoseheads front page, and I'm intrigued.

Eric Lutz has a few wins with the 1/2 downtube cars up in Huset's Speedway. Don't know the specifics of how the car reacts but he is driving a winged 360 sprint car.

Paul Weaver has a few wins with one in Ohio winged 305's. Someone "told me" that it was actually an older car that they updated like the newer style they're building now?
do it in the dirt

What were the "symptoms"?
Was it too tight or too loose? Did it respond to adjustments?
Did it feel different? Did it lay on the right rear?
Why didn't it work?

Most of these younger drivers have never driven a non-downtube car. I would bet it would be harder for them to adjust to the feel of the frame flexing.

We have the car Lutz ran, Im pretty certain the only reason he is running the other car is because we bought that car from Brian. We have won 2 of 3 races in the 305 division here in Ohio. We should have won the first night out with it but lost brakes and still managed to finish 4th.
The car is a 2011 Schnee 1/2 down tube (the first car made) it is not an updated old car. The car seems to work great on wet heavy tracks and dry slick tracks. So far the driver hasn't had any complaints . The only comment made was that the car has a different feeling then the down tube cars, and would agree with moonchild that the youngsters would notice a different in the flex!
