Anybody got any idea on the conditions down at the track? Or a forecast?

Says they are getting heavy rain right now. Does anyone know if they cancel do they reschedule or do they just call it a year? Hopefully they don't call it so quickly anticipating a small crowd with football in Ames and Iowa City.

They usually try to reschedule especially if there is a class that has not been clinched which is the fact in the 305 class. Not sure when they would reschedule if they do with an enduro tomorrow, and the Motorcycle races next week. So far as of 1:00pm central time races are still on.

It is still raining out here by Elk Rock. 1:11pm. I'll check my mom's rain gauge and report back.

1.1 - 1.2 inches. Light sprinkle now
Doesn't matter for me. Have a Wedding in Osky and then a reception at the Guard by the track. Would have annoyed me to hear and then not see Sprint Cars.

I believe that you should always reschedule your championship night. Huset's did this same thing a few years ago when Chad Meyer and Justin Henderson were tied for the point lead. Championship rained out, they didn't make it up, and we had 'co-track champions'. What a joke!

The Huset's Speedway "Co-champions" year with Chad Meyer and Justin Henderson was 2002. They raced the season championship event this year with Meyer winning and Henderson finishing 4th. This result created the tie.
Huset's season championship event has rained out without a makeup in 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2010.

You would say that...I would rather be drunk after the races then drunk after the rainout...

I'd like to know when everyone thinks they could re-schedule to?
I live in Kville and knowing how the crowds quickly decline once College Football starts, I don't blame them for not re-scheduling
Other races were scheduled at hte Raceway for Sunday (Enduro), as well as the AMA Flat Track Motorcyles this weekend (Sept 9-10).
Raceway has committed to not race on Homecoming weekend (Sept 23rd and 24th)
Lucas Oil Late Models are September 29 - October 1st
That leave only the 17th as a potential rain date. Iowa home FB game against Pitt scheduled for that day currently
September 10th is the Iowa vs Iowa State FB game (even if the AMA wasn't in town, I wouldn't schedule a race that weekend either).

I would rather kick a Hoosier,Goodyear,Farstone,or an M&H as to kick a football or watch one being kicked, watching 24 410's is best kick no matter what,to a real race fan,as far as co-track champions that kind of stuff is for the birds and its up to the paying public to let the promoter exactly how you feel, skip a couple weeks and they will change the way they do things, you get what YOU pay for not what they want to shove down your throat.....

Knoxville was going to take a blood bath financially to run the race. With both uni and isu (aka the two biggest demographic target fan bases for knoxville) playing at night, and Iowa also having a home game, only the diehards like yourself Bet n Housen would have attended. Football is vastly more popular than any for of racing, especially in the state of Iowa. Look at the Newton crowds during football season as an example to illustrate that point.
Frankly, it doesn't make sense from a financial standpoint to race sprint cars past the nationals.

PeeWee you are so correct,I would have been at Knoxville to watch the races,I am definitely a diehard,as far as football goes it is an absolute draw just about everywhere and I agree also agree about the financial standpoint for the track.
