Earlier this summer I was griping about missing Speedy Bill's museum's 2 pm guided tour (only way to see it). So after Knoxville, planned to go on my way back to Denver, had a day to kill (M-F only), so I had a good time at Grand Valley, Missouri USAC non wing races.
Monday headed up to Lincoln Nebraska for the museum tour. Little did I know that the main highway between KC & Omaha was shut down for 40 miles from earlier summer flooding... missed it again! Walked by anyway, someone had left a door open so I looked in & saw a replica of Big Daddy Roth's "Excalibur" as well as a 997 lb, all carbon fiber, gas turbine powered 32 Ford roadster... decided to stay another day.
It was worth it!!! Museum is absolutely astounding, circle track cars from the very beginning, lots of other stuff. Not only an all engine room, but engines everywhere. I'm amazed how many guys back in the day manufactured their own flathead or 4 banger OHV & OHC conversions, as well as whole engines.
Any gearhead will love this place! Lincoln is a good place to kill a day anyway, legendary Zoo Bar has had damn near every American bluesman play there; I was pleased to hear 2 ladies slamming away blues piano & singing on Monday afternoon

Concur 100%. Had the blessing of attending on June 10 after flying from Texas to KC and driving up to Lincoln to attend Eagle Nationals ASCS event. Races were rained out that night (Friday) but had great show on Sat. night. We were literally exhausted after the Friday 2.5 hour tour and went to the local baseball game for a great relaxing evening. We drove back to KC on Sunday and the flood waters were coming. Actually got down to one lane on the main highway. Lots of devastation for those folks...wish all the best. Been a tuff weather year, hurricane this weekend, floods all over, earthquake, and down here in Texas still battling 105 degree daily temps. Devils Bowl Speedway has cancelled rest of August regular program cause no water source for track. Gonna be better next year I hope and I will certainly go back to Speedy Bills Museum if the opportunity arises.

Agreed! Took my Dad there for his 74th birthday in April. It was an 11 hour round trip and was the best thing we could have done. AMAZING display!!! Cannot believe one man can have such a fabulous museum! Thanks to Speedy Bill for opening this to the public. My only complaint is that the guide spent too much time on things we didn't want to see, and too little on the things we drove to see. Maybe they can take a poll of what the majority of the group wanted to see? But really, ONE GREAT TIME WELL WORTH a day trip!!!
