That is what sparked his career. Just before that, he didn't seem to have much going on. Not sure of the year.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

That is the one reason I do not like Meyers, is as far as I know he never acknowleged Craig for giving him the ride, that is what started his Woo career going.

Jason Meyers won the World of Outlaws Feature at the Fox Ridge Speedway on June 10, 2003, after Craig Dollansky injured his back at Indianapolis in May. I've got photos in an old shoe box from that race at the Ridge. The track was a nice new facility and today is gathering weeds. It's located in Arcadia, Wisconsin, and I heard a rumor that they were still using the concession area as a rental hall.

On Friday of the 2011 Knoxville Nationals Jason had a interview in one of the halls and mentioned it.

I think it’s great that so many people came out to support sprint car racing tonight. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to run this car. For everyone who’s been wondering, Craig (Dollansky) is coming back for Kilgore, TX (October 24th), and he’s going to run the last four races.
It’s unfortunate that I’m driving this car under these circumstances, but this is a great opportunity for me. The first thing I’m going to do is call Craig and tell him about it.
thers quotes and many more can be found with an easy search on google. just thought i would post some facts. He showed thanks for the opportunity if you ask me.

I was there that night Stan... my one & only visit to the Fox Ridge Speedway... nothing but good memories! That was a pretty awesome feature. Kraig Kinser led most of the race (28 of 30 laps if I remember right?), and Meyers ran him down in lapped traffic and got the win. Kraig was on the cusp of getting really good, as I believe that would've been his first WoO win. I was wondering what happened to that track. That sucks it is shut down... it was a good one. I've never been to a track where they push the cars to the edge of the hill, and let gravity give the cars the speed/momentum to start... pretty crazy!

Didnt Jason start his world of outlaws career earlier than that in his own 14 & then Craig Cormacks 20?
Losing is natures way of saying you suck.

There were combination of factors involved in the place shutting down. If I remember correctly they were having a tough time and had to drop the Wissota Late Models and might have cut the purse a couple of times. Deer Creek was their main competition and when Fountain City reopened after sitting idle that made four tracks in that area with the closest big town being Winona. There was Fox Ridge, Lansing, Deer Creek and Fountain City. I guess you could count Kasson the Sunday night track in the mix as well. There just wasn't enough cars in the area to support weekly racing at that many tracks. Deer Creek has since stepped up their program and has the Gopher 50 for WoO Late Models, some big USMTS races and the WoO Sprints in a couple weeks.
I remember one night I think it was Al Gilbertson flipped a 360 clear down the railroad tracks. They never had many Sprint specials but there were a few good ones down there.

Not sure if he ran with WoO full time in his own 14... but he ran the Gumout series, maybe even winning the Gumout series title (?) He ran Cormack's car in '01, winning his first WoO race at Knoxville during the July fair race. I think Cormack dumped him for Saldana in '02, and his career was kind of in a lull when Dollansky got hurt & he got the opportunity to drive the 7. Certainly was a jump start..
