Is there any photos of the #18 White Super out of Manhattan, Kansas that Frances "Hoppy" Hoppensteadt drove in the late 60's/early 70's? It was owned and wrenched by Kenneth "Andy" Anderson who had a service station at the west end of the vioduct in Manhattan. I believe they used to race at Oklahoma City, Wichita, etc. with it. I've just never seen anything on this site about it.

That car can be seen at the far right of the first photo on the following web page which is not a "thumbnail" photo: http://KansasRacingHistory.com/Hutch_Nationals/Fair/27Jul1969.htm

Found on another website, don't know where. Anonymously sent in. Is this the Western Motel in Muskogee behind it?

Thanks guys for bringing back the memories. I think the first photo was the car in 1969. The following year Andy bought a Nance kit frame and the car was narrower. I used to hang around the station and watch him work on it. I remember once he had trouble with the motor and when he tore it down found a large washer had been dropped down the intake. He never accused anybody directly but he let it be known that he'd better not catch the one who did it. I always wondered if it had been accidently dropped when the motor was dropped in or if someone wanted to cause them grief. Andy shared with me that during the jalopy era Leon Spain drove for him and was one of the best until he got hurt. He liked later using "Hoppy" to drive but was very strict about wanting him to hug the bottom and would often stand next to the track waving at him to stay low. Local brilliant machinist Tennyson Collins has a ton of stories about Andy and his racing operation.
