wondering what everyone thoughts are on slide jobs? Had a driver that got all bent out of shape when my driver did one to him with 4 to go. He cleared said driver and then other driver ran into the back of him because I think it shocked him. So then it was my drivers fault because someone else passed said driver too. My driver Won by the way.

Next question is how far past a car should a driver be for a slide Job? past cockpit, even with front end, totally clear the car.

Just curious of everyone Else's thoughts

if a car is faster there should not be a slide job.just pass him cleanly.but if u want to do a slide job it should be past the front end .

If no contact is made & the driver being passed doesn"t have to take evasive measures, by all means that is sprintcar racing since the 80's on.

its racing and positioning of car and speed have to be a factor, a slide job is a great move in dirt track racing just as long as you dont push the car your passing into the wall . But if passed car comes close to parking itself in the corner then that is on that driver and might wanna turn left and try to drive back under to take position back . but in the end if you dont touch other car in my eyes good pass. congrats on the win.

We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

A safely executed slide job is exciting to see. In my opinion, too often in all forms of racing( including NAPCAR) the term "slide job" is over used-- often times in error. The same holds true for the term " slammed the door on him".

I feel that the slide job is a lost art in the sport. In more resent years, I have seen more single-file no passing races rather than battling through the corners. Sure you may be more likely to damage or reck but thats racing. Playing the more conservative card might not reck you but it won't get you the win.

If a guy puts a cheap slide job on you, and then parks the thing in front of you don't lift, and put him in the wall. What?

I can agree with this. A good driver knows if he has enough room to slide up. Sometimes the car behind makes the choice to keep a line on that slider. Then other times that person feels he can jerk the car down and get a bite to break even or gain more.

A bad slide job is maybe thinking too much of yourself or on purpose putting your right rear in someones left front.

Slide jobs are a fine line. No one can define a perfect one. Well, maybe the great writer Justin Zoch Smile

I figured it was clear in my own eyes. A good slider, a person clears someone, then sometimes the person behind has a choice. Sometimes they still have a little going and can stay on the person's ass and trail them into the next corner and re slide them. Or person has a choice to instead of breaking just does a twitch of the wheel and gets a bite off the cushion to go back under.

We see it 1000 times a year, any more questions? I am sure someone else understands seeing slide jobs done.

I compare the slider to a block pass in motocross racing. If the guy ran into your driver because it was so close I say it was bad. If the leader has to jam on the brakes due to being cutoff its a bad slider. Some sliders leave no question it was bad, example the Dollansky/Kahne incident.

The guy being slid has 2 choices gas or brake its up to him to make the correct decision. If my car gets hit in the left front by a right rear my driver made the wrong decision (should have hit the brakes). If the car getting slid gets hit anywhere from the front motor plate back it was a dirty slide job. You have to give the guy being slid the chance to make his decision.

This is the best response so far. As long as the car making the pass is far enough out front that the other driver can see it coming, then they have a choice. But if they come in late and put a RR in the cockpit, well its bad, obviously. A mediocre slide job can turn into a great one if it wins the race in the last corner... Everything is based on results! In the case of the original post, he won, no one crashed = good slide job.
