I am going to be heading to Indianapolis from March 29th to April 1st with my fiance while she attends a teachers conference. What local race tracks are in the area that will be racing during that time? Also can anyone suggest any places to eat, maybe motorsports mueseums etc... Thanks guys.

You're like a week or two too early. Weekly racing this year started on April 9th, although there was a 40-lap sprint car race on April 2nd this year at Twin Cities Raceway Park in North Vernon, IN, which if held on the same weekend next year would be Saturday March 31. North Vernon is a little over an hour southeast of Indianapolis. You can always go to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, they are usually open to visitors. There are usually exhibits to look at.

Rougue is correct. There won't be a lot of racing going on that early in the season, but ask again right before you go. It may well be that there is someone crazy enough to try and get an early season show it.
As far as museums, it is hard to beat the one at IMS. They also offer grounds tours and bus rides around the track. I highly recommend that you check it out. I am up there a couple times a year, and I still try and make at least one visit to the museum. They change the displays frequently. The gift shop is there, too.
As far as places to eat, there a few joints that are decent and popular with the racing crowd. The Union Jack, on Crawfordsville Road is full of racing memorobilia, and could be easily taken for being a museum. There are also plenty from the racing business that also eat there. Kelly's Pub Too on 10th Street is also a "racer's" joint. On Monday nights, D.O. Laycock does his internet based radio show, but I am not sure if he does it that early in the season. The Mug n Bun, also on 10th Street is a good place to go for old fashioned drive in food. They also make their own root beer. The onion rings alone are a good reason to stop. There are other joints in the Speedway area, Twist and Pup, McGuilvery's Pub on High School Road is another legendary joint. Dawson's on Main is also a good place to visit.

Pitstop BBQ in Brownsburg is also a racing themed place to eat,and just a few miles from Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Lots of racing shops based in Brownsburg as well.
Post again when your coming this way,you never can tell what might be going on when your here.
