Incredible race last night at River Cities (ND) Speedway, 8 or 9 lead changes, last lap - turn 4 pass for the win, two groves of racing... J. Gibson with another great call.... doesnt get any better than than.
WoO haters, noting to complain about this race.
Anyone at the race? How was it in person??

I was lucky enough to watch this one in person and it was totally impressive. These 2 waged war for the last 25 laps, and even though it got a little hectic at times, this one easily ranks in my top 3 races ever witnessed. Seeing these 2 go at it as hard as they did was definatly worth the drive up there, Ive been telling people for 5 years now........if you want to see a good WoO race, head to Grand Forks and once again the track didn't dissapoint last night. I was up there a month ago and saw Dollansky win with a last lap, last corner pass also. This was as good as it gets!

Sounds like it was a great race Lanman. I'd be interested to know what the condition of the racing surface was for the A main, actually for the entire night. Thanks.

Best race I've ever seen. It was unreal. I talked to Gibson after the races...he said he's been doing this for 15 years and that was one of if not the best race he's ever seen. That's pretty cool.

It was awesome. Absolutely. The action at the front between Kinser and Schatz was great.
Here's a lap-by-lap breakdown of the leaders.
1-4 Dobmeier
5-18 Kinser
19-29 Schatz
30-32 Kinser
33 Schatz
34-35 Kinser
36 Schatz
37 Kinser
38-39 Schatz
40 Kinser
In the last 10 laps the lead changed 6 times between Schatz and Kinser.
I just can't say enough how well the track held up. Before the Sprint A-main there were 4 sprint heats, 4 late model heats, 1 sprint dash, 1 sprint B-main, 2 late model B-mains. And that's not to mention hot laps and qualifying for 35 sprints and hot laps for 33 late models. The track for the Outlaws A-main was tacky, two-grooved with a good cushion, and pretty fast -- quick time was just over 10 seconds. Awesome night.

It's nice to know that the racing was good with plenty of passing and lead changes without allowing the track to go dry slick/ dusty.

I want to make the drive from Indianapolis area to River Cities next year! Sounds like an awesome track. How is the camping and local community?

While I can't really say anything about the camping here since I live in the community, I can tell you that a fair number of RVs are parked at the speedway itself. If you wish to inquire about that I would simply recommend calling the track.
However, River Cities Speedway is in Grand Forks, North Dakota, a community of 50,000+ so you should not have trouble getting a hotel relatively close to the speedway.
It's great to hear to that you're thinking of coming up here for some races. My wife and I say that we're lucky to live in a community where the racing is so good all the time.
For video (not mine) of the Outlaws racing here earlier this summer visit this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYmb1xC49MM
It's night two of the Outlaws show.

One of the greatest races I have ever seen. The battle Schatz and Kinser put on at full speed and inches from each other was incredible. High, low, through the middle, they were all over the track. Schatz moved Kinser to take the lead, Kinser comes right back and moves Shatz for the win. Just amazing racing between two of the best. All of us in our section wanted them to put another 40 laps on the board and go again.
Plus, the large fight at intermission on the back stretch was a good way to pass the time. Anybody have an info on who it was or what is was about? We know a member of Kinser's crew was involed, but no idea who the other person was. Who knew you could go to a race and a hockey fight breaks out.

http://www.crpphotos.com/RCS/August-19-2011 Check out this site for photos of the finish...
There was a difference of opinion on track prep between the TSR crews and SLS from what I understand.
The racing itself is just unreal up there. I can't believe we don't have a video yet of the race on the 19th. If you look at some of the pics from the finish you can see the whole grandstand on it's feet with hands in the air. It was a lot of fun. If the track is sticky they develop a few lanes and end up in traffic. If it's slick they slow a tick and still end up in traffic. Either way it's really good. And when they don't end up in traffic, it's still good. The racing between Donny and Steve was unreal in traffic as well. Just a whole lot of fun up there!

I've been to over 300 tracks in the U.S., Australia , Canada, and New Zealand. River Cities is officially my favorite!
