They aren't identical but the critical dimensions are all virtually identical. Bob Trostle (retired chassis building genius with hundreds of feature wins with his own cars) repaired all brands of chassis and said they all fit the same jig -which has changed very little since his Nationals winning 1980 design. The jig establishes the radius rod mounting points plus the torsion tube and engine heights, where the rearend and front axle sit, etc. - you can connect all of that in different ways, those subtle differences may cause the difference in feel. Some drivers will swear that a Maxim feels different than a J&J or a JEI or an Eagle, or whatever. You'll hear stories about the outlaw guys going through several identical chassis before they get one they like. Don't know if that's true but those guys can feel little differences so much better than the average Saturday night racer. Go to the pits and look closely, there are differences in how each builder places the tubing.
