Wow another nationals has passed us by again. Seems like they go by quicker every year. Where do I begin......Got the chance to ride in one fo those NASCAR taxicabs over at Iowa Speedway....Pretty good rush I'd say. Weather was perfect. Racing was unbelievable. Even though I'm not a Donny Schatz fan I gotta give the guy his dues, he can wheel a sprintcar, especially around Knoxville. Enjoyed seeing Lucas Wolfe win a race, long over due and well deserved I might add. Disappointments for me were Tyler Walker not sticking around. Heard all kinds of stories about his situation. Hope for his sake he can get healthy and back into a racecar. Jason Sides was another disappointment, just didn't look fast enough. I was hoping TK would have made the show as well, but he broke something. PA Posse impressed me all week too....Truly a very talented group over in PA. A big thank you to my wonderful hosts for the week...you folks really make Knoxville special for me allowing me to stay in your home every year. Dingus was as fun as ever.....shout out to my buddy Ashton!!!! LOL!!! Turn 3 parties rocked again, though I only made it out there on Tue and Fri nights. Shout out to all the fine folks I see every year back there. The Wisconsin gang I call them...You folks were alot of fun. The group of 5-6 young guys from SD who I hung out with till sun up. Thanks for lookin out for this old man. To all the cops in town...great job letting the fans enjoy all the festivities. Shout out to the fine officer who cut me some slack walking back home extremely drunk at 6am LOL. Finally got back home to Winnipeg, Canada on Sunday night. Caught some kind of virus, lost my voice along with very sore throat. Feel better today so I got off my ass and decided to check out Hoseheads. I'll be heading down to Grand Forks for the WoO show Fri night. That will probably be my last sprintcar show of the year.......sucks.....Oh well, bring on the NHL and the Winnipeg Jets.

I spoke about my fondness for Rick months back in this forum and was deeply saddened with the news. Depression is such a difficult thing for some and when you think how much he had going for him it is even sadder. Just signed a million dollar contract, was gonna play in his favorite place, finally physically healthy for the first time in a long time and then it's all over, what a shame. Not many scrappers can say they scored on their first shot, on their first shift in their first game, Rick Rypien can. Unfortunately he broke his leg 4 games later and injuries were the mainstay of his career from that point on. One of the top 5 lightweight fighters in NHL History, RIP young man.....

PS Claudio, you see many of Rick's games over the last few years???

I never made it out to many AHL games. Most of what I saw on the Ripper was when he played for the Canucks. I had an idea of his depression long ago, as I had a friend who was a team mate of his. I don't know if the cause of his death will actually be made public, but I'm pretty sure everyone has already come to their own conclusion on how he lost his life. Very sad....was looking forward to him being a Jet.
