Chris, Scott, Scott, & Steve: Has anyone contacted the sports departments at the local TV stations about supplying them with video and voice-over copy for the Sunday local news shows? Might lead to nothing, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. Most local stations are looking for good, free, newsworthy, content from outsiders because they have such dinky budgets. They won't send their own crews, but they will often run what's supplied to them by others if it's 1) accurate, 2) interesting, and 3) good quality sound and video.

Not a bad idea. I would think a person so inclined to produce such work could use existing Raceway Video, Loud Pedal Productions, and Jackslash footage to put together a very nice little news feature. Permission could be obtained and credit given to the people whose footage was used. Why not?

Yea back in the day they used to run highlights on I think NBC channel 4 from Ascot on a few Saturday night 11 o'clock news broadcasts. I believe they got the footage from our local channel 56 KDOC that actually televised full race programs on a delayed basis.

We (Jackslash Media Inc.) produced 12 half hour television shows titled "Flip the Switch."
It was a highlight show featuring Indiana Dirt Sprint Car racing. The show ran every Sunday morning at 11am from early May until the end of July here in Indy.
The show was a success. Many weekends it beat out most of their longtime running programming including there local news believe it or not.
We put the deal together with WNDY Channel 23 and 10. We have plans to do it again next year.
It wasn't hard at all to put the deal together. A reasonable timeslot and a check is really all it takes these days.
Having a local tv show about your racing scene is a vital part of the process. Everywhere we travel, Iowa, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, ect all have a local show highlight shows about their tracks and racing.
There are plenty of good video guys in California. Jeff at Raceway Video and Mike and Tim Truex of Loudpedal have plenty of experience. You don't have to put together an Emmy Award Winning show, just something to bring the racing community together and hopefully attract some new fans.

They do a weekly rap-up report on KCOY 12 Central Coast News on Mondays and if not Tuesdays about racing at Santa Maria Speedway. They show video highlights and give the rundown of the points in each division that runs at the speedway. They have been doing this for quite sometime I believe.
Trophy Cup......Best race of the year hands down!

The Channel 4 spots from Ascot were the result of years and years of hard work by Ben Foote and Sandra Bartosh, it was a very difficult operation and very costly on the part of the race track, the opportunity was provided by friends of the news media connections that were life long friends of the Ascot staff. Belive it or not one of the hurdles was damage control with the media caused by fans yelling that the TV crews/cameras were a distraction etc., this was on ongoing battle by the way. As far as the PAS, I have no direct knowledge as to what has been attempted but am confident that the amount of time, money and effort spent in that direction ( TV ) is a staggering amount...don't forget that the race track is completly self contained to accomodate TV, probably one of the only short tracks in the country to have that feature. The PAS staff members might have a lot better luck with Hollywood if there were thousands of fans somehow getting the attention of the powers to be, it just takes getting the attention of the right person...American Idle is a perfect example (it took the daughter of one executive to give it a second look after every other network turned it down) so there is still hope that it could happen, the recent internet feed just might be the ticket if things go well. The original question is "has anyone been contacted"...I could retire 10 times with the $$ that has been spent on PR over the last 16 years with TV, Radio and News Media
