During my recent 8 days of watching sprint car racing in Knoxville,Iowa I spent lots of time in and around the NSCHoF&M and on Thursday afternoon of the 410 Nationals I personally witnessed the following. There was a young family (father, mother, son and daughter) visiting the Museum. It was very evident, because of the way he walked, that the father (who was wearing long pants) had severe leg problems. Their children were each wearing shorts and unbelievely their son (about 6-7 years old) who was walking and their daughter (about 3-4 years old) in a stroller both had two prosthetic legs. Their circumstances really tugged at my heart. As they were leaving the museum I started visiting with them to make sure they had been able to use the elevator to visit the museum's second floor--which they advised me they had enjoyed seeing everthing on that floor. We continued our visit just outside the Museum's front doors, as we talked I noticed that Tyler Walker had just entered the Museum and I asked Tyler if he had a minute to talk to this family. He immediately started to visit with them and after a few minutes he asked them if they could please wait a couple of minutes and he went into the Museum and in a few minutes he returned carrying a big box which he open up and then gave a new design T. W. hat to the young boy.

I asked Tyler if he would please autograph the hat and he said sure. Because the hat was a dark color we needed a silver "Sharpie" which none of has had so Tyler waited while I found one inside the Museum. He signed the hat for the young boy and shook hands again with all the family members--a day and happening they'll remember for a long time. Tyler's actions made me happy to be a fan of sprint car racing and the men who drive sprint cars.

That is T-Dub. He treats all kids and fans that way, that's why my son and I are fans of him.

He is always nice to me when I talk to him. Couple years ago I sat and talked to him at Dingus for awhile. He was drinking pop. As for that TMZ style video on another post. How many of us have ever been in a situation drinking and someone else just wants to f*** with you for no reason? Now be a semi celebrity and have dozens of people always wanting to f*** with you. See if you never go off. It probably best for any famous person who is going out drunk on the town to have a body guard. That way when the haters start screwing with you while you are drunk you can have Bruno just go over and shut them up, sober

Only side of him I ever saw in the pits too. Regardless of what's going on, his own struggles in the past have never reflected when it's come to his treatment of the fans.

I metioned this in the other thread, but I saw him twice thursday night, hanging around by the band, tooling around on an old bicycle, enjoying the music, no beer in hand, looked happy as can be, no entourage. then I saw him again much later (2:30ish) in turn 3, pretty much doing the same thing, except he stopped & chatted w 4 younger people while I was walking back to my tent. I remember wondering, what's up w him? is he hammered? where's his 'entourage'? I instantly assumed all kinds of bad things, but the posts I've been reading in the days since he booked back to california, I'm starting to believe that he's legitimately ill, & needed to do what he did. I hope it works out for him, cause he can definitely wheel a sprint car.

Fuuny thing is that most fans..(including me) have no idea what our hero's have hidden in the closet..We all have skeletons. Lets judge our hero's (like all sports) what they do on the track or field of play and not what we THINK they do off of it! Its always positive when we hear about the good things all our favorite drivers do like this post about Tyler!....The negative stuff is for the wanna be's! Maybe some people should enjoy life a little more!

Just saying!!!!!!!

Finally something worth reading......truly warms my heart to read this thread......hopefully the bashers won't hijack it.

It sure beats the heck out of the other Tyler Walker thread....and the Sammy threads...and the Schatz threads ...and about 95% of the threads.

THANKS FOLKS!!!!!!!!!!!

Copy and pasted directly from Tyler Walker's facebook, presumably directly from the man.

Jesse Keen surported and waited on Tyler with his torn ACL(last year) and broken leg(this year), I find it kind of hard to believe this team would break up over an inner ear infection, especially after winning the Kings Royal. That being said, I wish Tyler nothing but the best. It has been a pleasure watching him race in Central Pa the past two seasons. I especially enjoyed his two wins at Grandview during that time. I have never seen a driver as excited as he was after winning both those races, the Kings Royal not withstanding.

As usual, I agree with everything you said. There's something more to the story. 99% of Central PA fans enjoyed having him here and the privledge of calling him a Pennslyvania local.

He's always been good with the fans, hopefully everything works out well for him.

I was just reporting the news. PA fans were lucky to have him here, we're lucky to have another shoe of similar talent to drop in the seat before the weekend is even over.

When my sister had the same illness it took her several months to get back to 100%. She was not driving a sprint car during that time either. It makes sense especially if he was driven back to CA. instead of flying back..

I talked to Tyler at Dingus on Sat. night before the Nats. He was having a great time just like everybody else. He was not drunk or anything else as far as I could tell. Very nice guy. The people on the other thread have probably never met the guy. I wish him a speedy recovery. He will be back in a sprint car before you know it. This is not the first time he has lost a ride!

Tyler has always been friendly and very passionate about his fans. I remember when he was running with the Outlaws in the C&W Motorsports 35 car he would stay for hours and sign autographs for kids. You can say what you want about Tyler...hes a good dude and when hes on his game, one helluva driver!!
