As per the Knoxville Raceway official Nationals point totals. It looks like the over 100 car count died this year. Only 99 cars took in racing points this year.

As like the rest of you, I can't wait for the economy to get back up, so we can see 140 car counts again.

24 for a feature, 48 for the first two nights is enuff for a dandy four day show, but a larger car count sure adds to the excitement of the Nationals

The economy isn't going anywhere but down unfortunately. As long as criminals are allowed to wager on Wall Street, corrupt politicians able to line their pockets with dirty money and average citizens dig themselves deeper in debt were screwed. This isn't a social/political rant, this will have a negative effect on our sport for years and years to come. It won't matter which parties clown is in office, were doomed. Hate to say it but I can see a Nationals happening in the next few years where there are less than 50 cars. This world wide economy that the pseudo "smart" guys like to capitalize undue profits from is about to make a HUGE monetary correction and thats gonna be about as comfortable as a colonoscopy with sand for lubrication.
Cheers!

Temperatures well over 105 degrees for 45 days does not help the car or spectator count as well. Most cities have a dozen or more indoor facilities to capture the limited entertainment dollars today. Nice comfortable cool indoor building is far more attractive in this current weather trend we are in. Think of what the car count would be in 105+ degrees if there were no indoor ac trailers, and motor homes.

I'm not sure there are more than 100 teams across the Country that have a 410 motor that can be competitive enough at Knoxville to give them a realistic shot at sniffing any sort of success.

Look at IRA and MOWA. They each can have 30 cars a night within 4-6 hours of Knoxville, but how many are at the Nationals? And I don't think it's because they don't want to be there. But they can run a $10,000 12 head motor locally and be competitive, so that's what a lot of them have. Try taking that to Knoxville.

If you could find a way to have a second class (yea, I know that's the point of the 360) that runs the same weekend to where all of these great weekend racers with small budgets and fewer ponies could come to Knoxville and have a great time and race for a little money... then you are on to something.

The last was 92 cars in 1982. Then even before that it was up and down in the hundreds in the 70's

How could you have more exciting races with 140 cars

Show would get over later is all

Crowd was on their feet at the main finish how do you make that better

I was just thinking today that I thought Clint Garner has been to the nationals before. Reasons for not being there this year?

No motor?

points in 360 for year?

only 1 car?

More cars do not make it a more competitive race. Quality is the key. most of the time trialers are with in 1 second or less of each other. It would only make the draw more unfair for some unfortunate entrants.

The only difference between this year and last year is about 7 other Australians and 2 New Zealanders that are not here this year....it's got stuff all to do with the economy....

I don't think it would be much better. Just that there would be more races for the money. A sign that Sprint car racing is strong and healthy. The races have been great the last two nights. It does kinda sucks though we only get 5 races tonight and a higher ticket price. Yes, tomorrow is only 5 races too but it is the Championship. I am sure it will be good racing.

Just posting the streak came to an end after 29 years.

as for the car count.... only thing it affects is my decision on whether I will go next year... I just cant see paying $42 for qualifying, 5 heats a B and an A.... my money of course would go to racing in some fashion,, but just not at that race...

Are there any top 410 winged drivers missing this week that should be at Knoxville?

Other than Kyle Larsen of course who never had a ride in the first place...

The car count is down but the croowd is down more. This is the worst first three nights I've seen and I've been coming since 1991.
