I thought Sides not doing very well was a suprise he had a good run when the WoO came in June. Really proud of the locals (McCarl, Heskin, Philips) all doing really well hopefully Zomer and Schneiderman and few more can get up in there tomorrow.

Fred Rahmer timing 4th fastest. He is still not 100% recovered from his injuiries. After being such a lousy time trialer almost his entire career, Barry Jackson has really helped him in that department this season.

Yep, a night of surprises! I was surprised yet thrilled to see that Fast Freddie qualified so well last night. That being said, it appears a changing of the guard is in process with so many young'uns and weekly Knoxville racers making their way through the heats and B main (can't really say "mains" as they did not run a "C"). Which is another surprise.
Considering the carnage and flame outs I have read of so far from the Knoxvilleraceway site results page, we can thank the big guy for not letting there be any reports of major injuries.
Another surprise is that I am at a location with lousy internet service or I would have hit the Turn2 site. But that might change, too!

I wasn't watching or listening, but I was getting updates and I was under the impression Rahmer not only timed 4th, but he did it after an engine change with no hot laps? If that's the case, against that field, that's impressive from both driver and crew. I believe the only thing keeping Freddy from getting the respect he truly deserves nationally has always been his inability to time trial. You just can't get away with that these days with the level of competition and closeness of the cars. In traffic I still say he's one of the best, period, and it has nothing to do with the "uniqueness" of Williams Grove, he's twice as good at Lincoln Speedway compared with the Grove. Regardless of his driving talents, his toughness is 2nd to none, that was on display once again a few weeks ago as he rolled through the WoO field at the Grove with injuries that would keep most people in bed.

Rahmer actually got kind of a big break in that he was able to hotlap with the fifth session and had a better idea of where the track was at qualifying fourth.

Thanks for the info, like I said, not there, not watching, not listening. I appreciate his talent, but I'm not an outright fan of any one driver, I just think he's one of the best I've ever seen (been to countless F1, Indycar, Nascar, SCCA, IMSA, ALMS, and Grand-Am races), one of the toughest for sure. There are only two people I've ever watched get passed for the lead in a sprint car, be able to pull it together, and get it back. One was Steve Kinser, the other is Fred Rahmer. As an amateur SCCA driver myself, I can't tell you how bad it throws you to get passed, they have what it takes mentally to get it back.

Doesn't hurt that he drew the early pill. Of course it hurt him starting back in his heat. You could see the line up in his heat and know he had his work cut our for him to transfer.

Heskin was somewhat of a surprise. The way he built the huge lead, stayed composed after Sweet got around and to pass him back, then to give Sammy a good run for the money. If you haven't noticed, the kid is pretty damn good!

Hey, a lot of guys ran great last night. Heskin is obviously a talent at Knoxville, along with a bunch of the other regulars. Like everyone else, I just like to see the home team run good.

Yep. Good points night for Fred. Qualified well. And then put on a great run in the A after struggling to move up in his heat and having to come out of the B. Guessing a lot of people weren't noticing because eyes were glued on the battles up-front or watching Stewart's banzai run from dead last.
