Way to go A-Mac and Davey Heskin putting it in the show !!!!!
I predicted A-Mac would make the show, lets hope my prediction of T-Mac watching the A from the infield comes up empty though.
Even Rager Phillips whom it seems everyone loves to criticize on a weekly basis came very close to racking up enough points to make the A.

Ok I need a refresher, its been a long year. What all happens on friday and how does that effect the total if at all. What is the magic number (total taken) to make that A out right?
Thanks for the great numbers MIKE!!!

There really isn't a magic point number. You have to be in the top 20 after BOTH qualifying nights.
However if you are above 450 and in the top 8 after the 1st night you are pretty safe for making the A.
Usually there is at least 9 cars locked into Sat's A from both nights.

This will actually be the 3rd year (I believe) for this Friday night Non-Qualifiers' format. The only new part this year is that there are no Scrambles. The top point getter after Thursday is the pole sitter for Saturday's A. Top 20 after Thursday are locked into the A, 21-40 are locked into the B, 41-50 are locked into the first 5 rows of the C.
The Non-Qualifiers' format uses 2 B-Mains and an A-Main (they will run 3 B-Mains if the car count is high enough, but that doesn't appear to be the case this year). The first 10 finishers in the A fill out the back rows of Saturday's C. The rest of the A finishers fill in the front of the D-Main, with the remainder of Friday's B-Main cars filling up the rest of Saturday's D and E (cars from the first B-Main fill in the inside row, cars from the second B-Main fill in the outside row).
Mike, you and I must be on the same wavelength. I've been developing an Excel-based Nationals program myself for many years. Nice to keep for posterity's sake, and I guess it helps to feel like I'm involved when I'm not actually there. It was also cool to have it in the stands at the 50th; we knew who was starting where after Thursday night within a few minutes of the show being over.
Signature here.

So to change the subject slightly...Does Shane stand a good chance of being locked in? top 20 are locked in after tonight right?

He has a chance.... but I wouldn't call it a good chance. He has to hope that a lot of the fast qualifiers tonight struggle. If 7 or 8 of the top 10 make it through their heat, he will probably be somewhere in the first few rows of the B. Yes -- top 20 are locked in after tonight. The track is usually a little drier and more conducive to passing on Thurs night..... which wouldn't bode well for him......... but who knows. He did the best he could last night after getting behind the 8 ball in qualifying & his heat race.
