Cowtown Speedway Back To School Bash #2, Friday 8/12
Kennedale, TX (8/8/11) by DarinShort.com. This coming Friday, August 12th race fans of all ages will be treated to a night of fun and racing action at Cowtown Speedway featuring the “Back to School Bash.”
Here’s what’s on tap:
This Friday night, there will be lots of prizes and giveaways for kids, as it’s their last big ‘hurrah’ before heading back to the school books.
And knowing this hot summer weather is forecast to continue, some ‘chilling’ activities will be provided.
First off, if you choose to sit in the corner 4 grandstands this Friday, you’d better come armed…with a squirt gun, that is.
The turn 4 stands will be a “squirt gun legal zone,” and anyone daring to sit there can expect to be cooled off by neighboring fans throughout the night. A water bucket will also be in close proximity so you can quickly fill them back up and not miss any of the action – on or off the track!
At intermission, possibly a first in racing, there will be a full-blown ‘Dodge Ball style’ water balloon fight in front of the stands. Entrants will be provided filled water balloons, and be split into two sides; you take a hit, you take a seat – last person standing will win a great prize from Cowtown Speedway. Safety glasses will be provided, and this should be quite the scene for observing fans…so don’t miss it!
Seven race divisions are on the card, including USRA Modifieds, Limited Modifieds, Street Stocks, Winged Modifieds, $200 to win for Bombers (reminder, IMCA legal Hobby Stocks are legal to run with the Bombers),
Winged A-class 600’s on the ¼ mile track and after last week’s great results,
Non-winged Restricted 600’s will race on the Action Track. A special appearance by the Junior Sprints will also be contested on the Action Track.
On the grandstand side, at this point, adult tickets will remain at the discounted rate of $10 for ages 12 and up, ages 6-11 will be $5; and all kids 5 and under are free!
Gates open at 6pm and racing starts at 8pm. The later start time over the past month has proven to be a hit with the race teams, race fans – and the racing surface itself with the high temperatures this summer.
Fans can bring in a drink cooler (size of a 6-pack) as long as they do not have glass containers. Kid’s candy call will also take place during intermission.

Reminder, the ASCS Sprint Cars series event, has a new race date. The race will be Friday night, August 19th instead of the following week as previously scheduled. They will be joined by the Limited Modifieds, A-class 600’s and Restricted 600’s. There will also be a special promotion with the Air Force taking place at Cowtown that night, details to come soon.
Join us this Friday night as the USRA Modifieds, Limited Modifieds, Street Stocks, Winged A-Class 600’s, Non-Winged Restricted 600’s, Winged Modifieds will be racing. And the Bombers will be paying $200/win; IMCA hobby stock legal are OK to run with the Bombers.
