Your post made me think of all the sprint car fans that have been to Nationals and know what it's like but can't make it. That would SUCK! I'm very fortunate to have been born and raise in K-ville so I may take it for granted. I try to get to some of the bigger shows when I can, Bristol WoO, Mopar Million, Belleville, but this is a pretty awesome time every year, every year. What makes it great is the people who do make their way from near and far to be a part of it. It's great seeing old friend that come year after year and meeting people you'll never see again but get to have a great time with for a week. As soon as they play "Happy Trails" at the end of Saturday night I start counting the days till next year.
