My friend is going to go up from Micro's to 305's next year. Anyone got any suggestions as to best things to get. Like IE which Engine builder seems best and a good web page for cheap parts. He has a roller already and as soon as he sells his micro sprint will have $13,000 to start.
looking for any help and suggestion so I can help him. Or if anyone knows if anyone is selling out everything.

Honestly? I'd suggest going to 358/360's instead. What do the 305's run for? 300 to win? I don't know the exact purse there but I do know its pitiful. Hell you'd have to WIN every show to try to break even for the night. (and those involved KNOW that never happens)

I understand that but the option of buying a 360 engine for teh price really isn't an option. I think he is looking more for the cost effective learning ablity at Knoxville and West Burlington. Also, the exposure to run around Knoxville. Then move to that 360 level with more sponsor backing. He gets fitted for a Butler seat really soon here, so he is serious about the bump up.

As far as which engine builder seems best I would go with a Parker. Sammy is going to run one for nationals. Havent seen alot of them blow up like some other ones and they are fast. Possible problem: I have no clue on the price.
I will look forward to seeing him run at Knoxville next year. it's always good to see car counts go up. What's the car number going to be so I know who to look for?

Number is not yet up. Plans to be one of his few numbers, in the last couple years. I mean we are 8 months from number time....number is last thing on the list . Parker is good but we are talking 305 not Sammy. and thank you for the good to see a car count. eggs hatching.....

Find someone who already is running a car and "stooge" for a season. Then ,find a decent used car,get some educated help, and WORK,WORK,WORK. Read everything you can, and don't be proud.Ask for advice. Befriend everyone in the pits, and when you err,APOLOGIZE!
Success will eventually come. When the pieces start to come together, the driver will be pleasantly surprised. Above all, enjoy the experience. The friends made in this arena will be the best of your life!!!John S.

Find a track that runs the Racesaver rules and run there you will save a lot of money on your first built and maintaining your motor for years to come. It may not pay as much but when you compare pay to play you will not spend near as much either.
